"So, uh, how did you know that guy was bothering me?" Natalie asked taking a sip of her soda.
"I was kinda watching you-"
"Oh really?" she said raising an eyebrow.
AJ laughed and the waitress came and gave them their food.
"So how long have you known Leigh?" Natalie asked while she ate a fry.
"Couple of years now." he said taking a bite of his burger.
After they ate, Natalie said she didn't feel like heading home yet.
"How's the beach sound?" AJ said.
Natalie smiled and they headed off.
Back at the club, Nick and Leigh headed home. They walked inside their house and Leigh collapsed on the couch.
"I am so tired. I am just gonna stay here." she said nuzzling into the couch.
She felt Nick's lips lightly on her forehead, then in one swift move Nick picked her up and carried her to their bed. He laid her down on it and went to brush his teeth. He went back in and fell asleep fast next to Leigh.
Around 3 am, AJ stood with Natalie at her front door. They had walked and talked for hours on the beach.
"I liked spending time with you." AJ said stepping closer.
"Me too. I'll call you, Leigh gave me your number." she smiled.
AJ nodded.
"Night." she said stepping inside.
AJ stood there, surprised she hadn't kissed him goodnight. It answered the question that had been in the back of his mind. Natalie didn't like him more than a friend.
Or was there some other reason?
