"Hey, it's Aj. Listen, I hate to ask you this, cause I know your not going to want to, but Angie had another brilliant idea." Aj laughed.
Nick sighed and readied himself for what she could have thought up this time. The last 'brilliant idea' she had ended up with Aj and Nick both having a room in their house re-done by Angie, and she picked the color pink for the walls.
"Her best friend, Claire, came over here and Angie decided to play matchmaker. She thinks me and her, and you and Claire should go out to dinner." Aj explained.
"I don't think it's a good idea. I just broke up with Marie and I really don't think I am ready to date yet."
Aj felt bad for Nick, because he had fallen for Marie and she left him. But it had already been three weeks since she left and he still wasn't even looking at girls.
"It's almost been a month and I'm not asking you to fall madly in love and marry the girl on the spot! Plus, if you don't go, you'll never hear the end of it from Angie." Aj pleaded.
Nick sighed and Aj could tell her was about to give in.
"Fine. One date and that;s it. And you owe me for this." Nick said.
"Yeah, I know. Alright, later man."
Nick mumbled something and hung up.
They made all arrangements and decided on going to a fancy restaurant in the city.
Claire headed home and took a shower. She got ready for the date and silently cursed herself for letting Angie talk her into it.
' The last thing in the world I need right now, is a guy in my life.' Claire thought.
She sat down and looked at the clock and she still had thirty minutes until Angie and Aj would show up. Claire sat down on her couch and turned on to a movie on Lifetime.
As she watched the movie, it reminded her of the second relationship she had.
"Your so useless! How could any man ever want you?" Scott yelled.
Claire had tried to break up with him lightly because he always talked to her like she was worth nothing. The minute she brought up the idea of separating, he went crazy.
"That's not true!" she objected.
"Oh really? What about your last boyfriend? He didn't want you, he cheated on you! Your lucky I stay with you." her boyfriend yelled.
"Okay, I'm sorry, just please don't yell at me." she said.
She instantly regretted saying she'd stay with him.
But it was a constant cycle with them. She'd try to break up with him and he'd convince her no one would want her.
Fortunately, she escaped the relationship two weeks later.
The beeping of Angie's horn pulled Claire out of her thoughts.
She grabbed her purse and headed out to Angie's car. She opened the door and got inside.
"Hey." she said to Angie and Aj, who were sitting in the front seat.
They both said hi and Angie started to drive towards Nick's house. Claire sat in her seat dreading the date that lay ahead of her.
"So remind me again why I agreed to this?" Claire asked.
Angie laughed, "Because you and Nick need to start dating again and you two seem perfect for each other."
"Which one am I going on a date with? The blond one?" she asked dully.
Angie started cracking up and Aj just shook his head and smiled.
Fifteen minutes later, Nick came out and walked over to the car. He opened the door and slid in next to Claire.
' Well here we go...' Claire thought.
