Angie sat there with her pint of ice cream and a spoon. She nodded and looked up at Claire who had been sitting in her house since 3:05pm. The second she got out from work, she went over to Angie's to complain about Nick's rudeness over the phone.
Claire fumed, "You know, just to teach him a lesson, I should not show up tonight-"
"Claire-" Angie tried to say.
"No, wait, I should show up then ignore him!" Claire laughed.
"Claire!" Angie tried again.
She bit her lip and continued, "I mean, how could he say I love you then flip on me and hang up? Just because I wouldn't talk to him. At work too!"
"CLAIRE!" Angie yelled.
Claire stopped rambling and looked at Angie.
"Yeah?" she asked.
Angie started laughing and she shook her head at Claire, "Give yourself some time to calm down, I am sure Nick feels bad."
Claire shrugged and took the ice cream from Angie and her spoon and dug into it. She shoveled a mouthful of ice cream and then turned back to Angie.
"Has Aj ever hung up on you?" Claire asked.
"All the time. With me and Aj, when we have a fight, it's crazy. We both have huge tempers so we slam phones, throw things ... I hate fighting with that boy!" Angie laughed.
Claire smiled and stood up before sitting back down. Angie looked at her like she had gone crazy and just laughed.
"Well, it's 4:00pm now, and we have to meet the guys at 10:00 at the airport." Claire said, "So what do you want to do?"
Angie picked up her puppy off the floor and placed it on the couch next to her. She patted the puppy's head before it yipped and started jumping around.
"Want to show Aj and Nick just how lucky they are to have us?" Angie said with a slight smirk.
Claire eyed her and just shrugged knowing Angie's ideas where always out there. Angie grabbed her hand and dragged her into her room. Angie opened the closet and started pulling out all different mismatched clothes. Within fifteen minutes, it looked like a typhoon had swept through Angie's room.
"Okay pick an outfit that doesn't match, and is crazy looking!" Angie smiled.
Claire didn't bother to even ask why. She picked out a pair of black high heels, green and yellow capri's with a red black miniskirt hiding the top of them, topped off by a white leather halter top.
Angie picked out a long purple skirt, a green thong over the skirt, a blue bikini top with an orange sweater tied over her shoulders.
They looked at themselves in the mirror and burst into fits of laughter. Once Claire caught her breath she wiped the tears of laughter from her eyes and looked at Angie like she had finally lost her mind.
"What are we doing?" she asked through a laugh.
"You'll see! Follow me..." Angie said.
The girls went into the bathroom and Angie had Claire sit down on the closed toilet seat. She pulled out her draw full of makeup and began taking some out.
"Oh no, what are you doing?" she asked Angie.
Angie giggled, "I am just going to do your makeup to top this outfit off. Then you will do mine, and we will get to what the purpose of all this is..."
Claire sighed and close her eyes as Angie began to pur on the make-up. Angie announced she was done, she Claire opened her eyes and looked in the mirror.
"Oh my god! I look like I work the corner!" Claire laughed.
Angie smiled proudly, "I know. I am so proud!"
Claire laughed and made Angie sit down, "Revenge is going to be sweet!"
Claire did Angie's makeup, making her look like a clown. Once the girls finished laughing at themselves, Claire asked why they were doing this.
Angie walked over to the closet and pulled out the camcorder. Claire eyed her suspiciously as Angie walked over and picked out a CD.
"Claire, set up the camera on the tripod..." Angie instructed.
Claire did that as Angie set up the CD. Once everything was set, Claire told Angie she wanted to know what they were doing.
"Okay, well for fun, we are going to make a music video for the guys." she smiled.
"What?! Looking like this?!" Claire asked incredulously.
Angie started laughing, "Yep! It will be so much fun. Also, wait till you hear the song we are doing..."
Claire shook her head at the embarrassment of it and just decided, why not? They pressed the record button and Angie and Claire stood in front of the camera.
"Hey baby's! Me and Claire wanted to treat you with a nice welcome home present." Angie said.
"So sit back, relax, and see what we have done while you were gone." Claire announced.
Angie pressed the play button on the CD Player and Britney Spear's ' Baby One More Time ' blasted from the speakers. Claire tried not to laugh as the girls danced around and sang to the song. They acted out the whole thing and when it was over the bowed and then smiled into the camera.
"Now, aren't you proud we are your girlfriends?" Claire asked.
Angie smiled, they both blew kisses, then they shut off the camera. They both started laughing and Claire started hiccuping.
"Remind me why I am your friend and why I let you talk we into these things?" Claire asked.
"Ahh, cause you love me!" Angie giggled.
The girls washed the makeup off and changed back into their clothes. By that time, it was 9 o'clock, so they decided to head over to the airport. They got in the car and began driving over. Claire looked out the window and Angie asked her if something was wrong.
"Well, I know I may be jumping to conclusions and all, but what if Nick really is like the rest?" Claire asked.
"Like the rest of your ex's? He's not, trust me." Angie said before taking a right onto an exit.
Claire coughed, "It's just, Nick told me he loved me last night, and I kind of said it back-"
"Kind of?" Angie asked suspiciously.
"I said ' you too.' " Claire admitted.
"You didn't say ' I love you too '?! Why not?" Angie asked.
"You know why! With Josh, we both said I love you, then he cheated on me. With Scott, we said I love then he began yelling at me and abusing me. With Jeff, we said I love you and he moved out the next day. Are you seeing the pattern?" Claire said in an exhausted tone.
"You need to let go of your past. Just because Scott, Jeff and Josh hurt you, doesn't mean Nick will. And with the I love you thing, I think that's just a coincidence. I mean, what did Nick say when you say 'you too' ?" Angie asked.
"Nothing."
Angie laughed, "He was probably to hurt to! Maybe on the phone today that's why he flipped on you like he did. Maybe he thinks you don't love him..."
"I do though!" Claire defended herself.
"Then why won't you say it?" Angie asked.
"I'm scared, okay? You know how my past was. Like I have said before, no matter how much I love anyone, it is hard to open up completely to someone." Claire said sadly.
Angie sighed, "Maybe if you told him why your scared-"
"No! No way am I going to tell him how I let all those guys walk all over me." she said with a defying voice.
Angie sighed, "Well then, I really don't know what to say."
Claire smiled, "Gee, thanks."
They parked in the airport's parking lot, then went to the information booth.
"Could you tell us what exit flight-" Angie stopped to look at the number scribbled on her hand, "flight 340 is?"
The woman smiled, "Yes if you walk past the next five exits on your left, you will reach exit 11." she said.
Angie thanked her and the girls stopped at the coffee shop before they went to wait for the guys. Claire stepped up to the counter and waited to be served on.
"Can I help you?" the woman asked.
"Yes, I'd like 7 decaf coffees. Three with milk, no sugar. Two with milk and sugar. One with cream and sugar. And one black." Claire said.
Angie looked at her like she was insane, "So I remember weird things like how people take their coffee. Sue me!" Claire said.
Angie laughed and a few minutes later, the girls were sitting by exit 11, both drinking a cup of coffee and five other cups of coffee next to them. Twenty minutes later, the guy's plane landed and people started exiting the plane. Howie was the first one off the plane. Claire and Angie kissed his cheek, said welcome back and handed him his coffee saying it was decaf and the way he liked it. They did the exact same to Brian, then Kevin. When Aj came out they did the same but Angie gave him a big kiss on the lips and they told each other they had missed each other. Nick came out a minute later and he looked glumly up at Claire.
"Hey..." she said softly.
"Claire, before you say anything else, I am sorry I acted like that on the phone." he said.
She smiled, "It's okay ... I uh, I got you coffee." she said handing him the cup.
"With milk, no sugar?" he asked.
She laughed, "Would you take it any other way?"
He kissed her lips softly and whispered "I love you..." into her ear.
She smiled at him as he blushed lightly, "What's wrong?" she asked.
"Well, in New York, after I yelled at you on the phone and hung up, I figured you'd hate me. She I bought you some flowers at the New York airport. But they uh, kinda died." he said revealing a bouquet of daisies that had started to wilt and turn brown.
"Aww thank you." she said taking them from him, "It's the thought that counts."
He kissed her gently before all of started walking out to the car, to go home.
