It was the afternoon after they got told they had a week off, and no one had any plans or anything special to do.
"Probably chill with Ang, fly out and visit my mom. Nothing really planned though, why?" he asked.
"I don't know ... I feel like going on a trip. But hear me out first, okay?" Nick asked.
Aj groaned but mumbled okay. Nick licked his lips and continued on.
"Okay, when we are in a bus, we hate it right?" he asked.
"Right." Aj replied slowly.
"But we've never been in a RV, right?" Nick asked.
"Right." Aj replied again.
"So if we were to go in one, we probably won't hate it, right?" he pondered.
"For god's sake, spit it out Carter!" Aj boomed.
"Okay, okay. I was thinking me, you, Claire, Angie and whoever else wants to come, we could rent a deluxe RV and take a road trip?" Nick suggested.
"Carter, do you have a brain in your head? When you go on a road trip, you go with a destination. You don't just drive places for fun." Aj scoffed.
"Oh..." he paused, "Well, we can figure that out later. So, you want to?" Nick asked sounding like an overexcited five year old.
"What about Claire's job?" Aj asked.
Nick paused, "I didn't even think of that. Think I should call?"
"No! Last time you did, you two got in a fight. Call her boss or something." Aj said then he waited a second, "No wait ... scratch that. You could get Claire even more pissed at you."
"Yeah, well, I'll have to take that chance." Nick said hanging up quickly so Aj couldn't tell him not to.
Nick dialed the law office's number and thankfully, Rosie took the call, not Claire.
"Can you transfer me over to talk to Tom Blakeman?" Nick asked.
Rosie said to hold a minute before Nick got switched over. When he switched over, Tom answered the phone.
"Hi my name is Nick and I am friends with your employee Claire Bennet." Nick introduced himself.
"Hello, how are you?" Tom asked.
"I'm fine, thank you. I was wondering, is there any way for Claire to get a week off this early in her job?" Nick asked.
"Under what circumstances?" Tom asked in a stern yet kind voice.
"A ... a road trip." Nick said feeling foolish.
Tom waited a minute, "Well if she wants to use one of her 3 vacation weeks she gets a year, she may. But I'll need to know by tonight at 9pm."
"Okay, well she'll call you back." Nick said, "Thank you."
"Okay, good-bye."
Nick hung up and excitedly called back Aj, telling him Claire's boss said it was okay. Aj said that Nick was stupid to bother Claire's boss, but he'd go see Angie and ask her if she wanted to go.
Aj left his house and drove over to Angie's to ask her if she wanted to go on the trip. When he went to go knock on the door, the door swung open and Angie walked right into him.
"Hey, where are you going?" he asked her as she regained her balance.
"To see you, but I guess I don't have to do that now." she smirked.
Angie grabbed Aj's shirt and pulled him inside while placing a passionate kiss on his lips. When she parted from him he was breathless and he looked at her funny.
"Where did that come from?" Aj asked.
"Oh, I guess I just missed you..." she nonchalantly.
Aj eyed her, "Oh no, is your-"
"Mom coming to visit? Yes ... unless I think up somewhere I can go." she smiled.
Aj laughed and sighed, "Don't get me wrong, your mom is great and everything. It's just the questions that get to me ... I mean she shoots them out so fast you can't even answer them!"
Angie nodded, "Yeah I know. She asked me if I was still with 'the guy with the tattoos' and I was like his name is Aj and she just said oh that's nice to know. And I told her to use your name and she simply said that your name was too hard to remember."
Aj started laughing but looked a little hurt that Angie's mother hated him.
"My dad was asking about you. He really likes you..." she said.
Aj smiled and hugged Angie. She started giggling and ran her hands up and down his back.
"Any reason your hugging me out of nowhere?" she asked.
"No reason, I am just really lucky to have you in my life." he whispered.
Angie smiled and hugged Aj tighter before letting him go and kissing his lips softly. She put her head on his chest and inhaled the scent of him. She kissed his lips sweetly again before looking into his eyes.
"So, did you come over here to ask me something, talk to me, or just to see me?" she asked with a cute smile.
"Oh, I almost forgot! Blondie aka Nick wants to rent an RV and take a road trip to nowhere." Aj said with a serious face.
Angie peered at him closer, "Oh god, your serious?! Does he realize you need-"
"A destination when you go on a road trip?" Aj said finishing her sentence.
She nodded and he shook his head no.
"Nope, he has no clue. I told him that and he said he would figure that out later." Aj laughed.
"So am I guessing right when I say Claire is going too?" Angie asked.
Aj nodded, "So far, me and Nick. If you and Claire say yes, then you two too. But if you don't go, I doubt I will go. I want to spend this week with you."
"This week?" she asked.
"I have a week off for vacation, I guess I forgot to tell you that too." he smirked.
Angie laughed and picked up her phone, dialing her job's work. She worked at a medieval themed restaurant where she had to dress up in a medieval gown every night just to be a hostess.
"Is Drew there?" she asked, looking for her boss.
She paused waiting for him and Aj watched her wait impatiently, "Hi this is Angie. I just wanted to see if I could take one of my week's of vacation, starting tomorrow?"
She waited a minute again before saying, "Okay, thank you."
She hung and smiled at Aj, "I'm in."
