This is pretty much how our "band" came about....
At first there was this band in 9th grade at Holt Junior High called Slow Children Playing. The band consisted of Mike Ried on guitar, Rob Conley on guitar, Aaron Wyble on drums, Craig on bass and Joe was the singer. Slow Children Playing was a horrible band and we will all admit it now. We just played Nirvana covers and some of our own grotesque songs. We never even played a show and shamelessly promoted ourselves. After a while of being in the band and shortly after making a 3 song tape, Joe quit the band. He said he wanted to play guitar in a band and no one could blame him. Slow children Playing went on for a little while longer until Rob didn't show up a few times so he was out of the band. Soon after, Aaron quit. Craig and Mike were the only remaining members so they started a band called Down & Out. Bryan Heany played marvelous drums and the band was pretty cool as a 3 piece. In the time that Down & Out practiced, Joe and Travis played a few times in Travis' basement playing nothing songs. In September in 10th grade, Joe asked Craig if he wanted to be in a new band. Joe to play guitar and Travis to play drums and Craig to play bass. He said sure. Canine Sugar was then a band with the spontaneous, artsy fartsy temp name of Audio Temperment. The group first played Sept. 9, 1997 and had two songs. After a while the name Canine Sugar was brought forth to Craig in a weird dream and it stuck. On Halloween that year, Canine Sugar played its first show with Down & Out, Blotter, and the band then known as X- Rated. It was very good. And then we became the co-rulers of the universe.
