At The Hospital
“Where is she? Where’s my wife!” JC yelled to the woman at the front desk.
“Sir, I need you name.” The woman said calmly.
“Um… Uh… I know it. Really I do… It’s uh… It starts with a J… Um… Justin! What’s my name?” JC was obviously not thinking clearly.
“Joshua Chasez, that’s his name.” Justin told the woman. “And his wife’s name is Leslie Chasez.”
“Okay, Mr. Chasez, you need to fill out these forms before you can go and see your wife.”
He snatched the papers and pen from the woman and sat down. Justin and Lance sat down on either side of him. JC tried writing but his hands were shaking so bad he couldn’t.
“Man JC, just give me the damn papers!” Justin said, getting aggravated. He filled in the information for his friend and then returned to the front desk. “All done.”
“Okay, she’s in room three eighteen.” Immediately he took off to Leslie’s room.
Rushing over and hugging his wife he said, “Oh God, Leslie! Are you ok? Is the baby okay? What happened?”
“I’m fine Josh, really. The baby is fine… All that happened is my water broke.”
Seven hours later Leslie was in labor and the room was filled with doctors and nurses.
“OW!” JC gritted through his teeth as Leslie squeezed his hand, while she had another contraction.
“Okay, Leslie, we’re going to need you to push now.” The doctor told her.
“Oh my God!” Leslie screamed as she pushed hard. “Damn you JC! You did this to me, you fuckin’ bastard!”
JC watched in horror at the events that were taking place around him. He began to breath heavy and soon everything went black and he hit the floor.
“Oh my God! He fainted! That fucking pussy ass fainted! Wake that loser up! I wasn’t done yelling’ at his ass!”
A nearby nurse woke JC up and he stood just as Leslie made the final push. He stood next to her and held her hand. They watched as the doctor cut the umbilical cord.
“I’m so proud of you, Leslie.” JC said in a comforting tone as Leslie watched in horror as doctors surrounded her child who had not cried when it was supposed to.
“Why isn’t the baby crying Josh?” His wife asked in a terrified voice.
“I’m so proud of you. I love you, Leslie.” He replied and confessed, trying to draw her attention away from the baby.
She turned her head sharply and glared at him.
He doesn’t mean it. He’s only saying it because of the baby. “Whatever.” She said and turned her focus back to the doctors.
Moments later a baby’s cries could be heard throughout the room. The baby was cleaned off and wrapped up in a soft yellow blanket.
“Congratulations Mr. And Mrs. Chasez, you now have yourselves a precious baby girl.” The nurse handed the baby to Leslie and all of the other employees cleared the room promptly.
Joyful tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked up into JC’s eyes. “We have a little girl Josh. This is OUR little girl.”
“Yeah. Yeah it is. She has your nose.” He touched the baby’s cute little nose.
“Yeah, but she has your beautiful blue eyes.”
“You think my eyes are beautiful?”
“Yeah.” She said softly. “But then again who doesn’t?” Leslie’s tone tensed up a little.
“I never knew that.”
“Oh.” Leslie admired her daughter for a few minutes. “Can I see Nicole?”
“Oh my God! Nobody called her! She doesn’t know all of this is happening.”
“You idiots! You didn’t think to call my best friend and tell her I was in labor?”
“Uh… Woops.”
“Get out and don’t come back until you’ve called her!”
Ten Minutes Later
JC returned. “Lance is gonna go pick her up.”
“Ok.”
With Lance and Nicole
“Hi Lance. You’re home awfully late. Where were you?” Nicole asked.
“The hospital. Get your jacket. We have to go back.” He replied.
Soon Nicole was in Leslie’s hospital room and holding the baby.
“What are you going to name her?” Nicole asked the mother and father.
“If it’s okay with you, Leslie, I was thinking about naming her Riley. But I don’t have a middle name.”
“How about Riley Marie Chasez?” Leslie suggested.
“That sounds like a beautiful name… For a beautiful little girl.” JC looked into Leslie’s eyes. “With a beautiful mother, whom I love.”
Leslie looked away from him. JC left the room at this action.
“What’s wrong with you Leslie? JC just told you that he loves you and you simply look away from him! You’ve been waiting for over a year for those words to come out of his mouth and when they finally do you blow him off! Nicole exclaimed.
“He doesn’t mean it. The only reason he keeps saying it is because we have a baby and he feels like he has to.” Leslie responded coldly. “I love him so much. I mean I never stopped loving him. I just wish he meant it when he said it.”
Nicole handed Riley back to Leslie. When she did her friend’s arm brushed against her side and she flinched.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I just walked into the dresser this morning.”
“Okay.”
Meanwhile
JC was standing outside his wife’s hospital room door listening to her and Nicole’s conversation.
She loves me! She never stopped! But, wait, she thinks I’m lying when I tell her I love her. That’s a BIG problem. Why… How could she think I would lie to her about that? JC thought just before reentering the room. “Nicole, Leslie and I were wondering if you and Lance would be Riley’s God Parents.” JC said.
“We’d be honored to be the God parents. Oh thank you guys so much.” Nicole said before looking at her watch. “Oh no. I have to go. I’ll see you guys soon. And thanks again.” She then ran out of the room.
Forty Minutes Later
“Hey baby.” Lance said wrapping his arms around Nicole’s waist from behind, while she made them dinner. “I love you. You know that right?”
“Of course I do. I love you too.” Nicole replied.
Lance, who had started kissing her neck reached over and turned off the stove. He picked her up, carried her into the bedroom, and dropped her onto the bed.
“Lance, what are you…” Nicole started to say. He kissed her hard, preventing her from speaking, and then his lips started to move down her neck. “Lance, what does it take for you to understand? I said NO!” She pushed him away and stood up. Nicole began to walk away, but Lance pushed her against a wall.
“I am your boyfriend. You do what I tell you.”
Nicole stared at the floor. Not wanting to see the furry in his eyes, not wanting to believe that this was real and happening to her.
Suddenly he slammed his hands against the wall on either side of her head, causing her to look up at him quickly.
“Look at me when I talk to you.” He demanded. Lance paused for a moment when he saw the fear in her glassy eyes. Slowly he backed away from her. Why am I doing this to the girl I love? I’m hurting her. He thought before speaking to Nicole again, but this time calmer. “Are you scared of me, Nicole?”
Slowly she nodded her head.
“Oh, God.” He turned and left their condo.
Nicole made her way over to the phone and dialed a familiar phone number. “Joey…” She said when he picked up.
“I’ll be right over, Nicole.”
