“Alex, ya still alive?” Rachel called. She walked in and sat on my bed.
“Let me guess, my mom sent you in to talk to me cuz she wants to know what's wrong and thinks I’m gonna open up to you.” I said.
“Actually Nick did cuz you won’t talk to anyone else. So what's up?” She asked.
I debated wit myself if I should tell her. I really didn’t feel like dealing with anyone. But Rachel is trustworthy.
“I don’t know where to start.” I finally spoke.
“The beginning is always a good place to start.” She suggested.
“Everyone knows that my father left when I was four. What they don’t know is I had a little sister, Jessica. When he left, he took her with him. He always favored her over me. Years went by and I never saw nor heard from either of them.” I said.
Rachel listened intently.
“Eventually I heard from my father, but I never did find out what happened to Jessica…” I was silent for a moment, trying to figure out what to say next. “…Until now. My mom thinks that Jessie is my sister.” I said.
“It makes enough sense. I take it you two didn’t get along very well.” She said.
“What makes you think that?” I asked suspiciously.
“Well, you don’t seem to thrilled about the whole situation.” She said.
“Well, we got along okay, seeing as how she was only 1? , sure I was jealous of her cause she got all our dad’s attention, but that’s normal." I said.
