“Jessie.” I answered.
“That’s a nice name.” He said.
“Thanks.” I replied.
After a long & awkward pause in conversation, Nick asked, “Was that you singing earlier?”
‘I was singing again? DAMMIT! Wait, they heard me! Oh, no.’ I thought. “Yeah, I’m sorry. I must have sounded horrible. I apologized.
“No, no you were great! You have a wonderful voice.” Nick stated.
‘How could he think I have a good voice? I suck!’ I thought. “Really? I don’t think so.” I said.
“Really. In fact I have an idea.” He said.
“And what would this idea be?” I asked. It was so easy to talk to him. Usually I’m really nervous around people, especially guys I like. But Nick was different.
“Well, the guys and I have our own record company. Since we all heard your singing earlier, I thought that if you were interested, we could sign you on with us.” He said.
I never in my life thought that I was good at signing, but I’ve always wanted to be a singer. “I…uh…that would be great…but…” I was cut off by Rachel, who had just walked over.
“What are you guys talking about?” she asked.
“Well, I was just telling Jessie how well she sings & that if she wanted to, we could sign her on to our record company.” Nick told her.
“That’s a great idea Nick!” Rachel said.
“I don’t have that good of a voice.” I said. ‘I can’t believe this.’ I said to myself. ‘Nick, NICK FREAKIN CARTER thinks I have a good voice!’
“I think we should go find out what the others think first.” Rachel said.
“Good idea.” Nick agreed.
So, we went over to where all the other guys were.
‘All I thought I was doing today was getting a live look at the Backstreet Boys, now out of sheer stupidity, I might actually be able to get a record deal.’ I said silently.
We walked over to the guys. I was so nervous. They were teen idols, & I was just a regular girl. It also didn’t help that I think they are the hottest group of guys alive!
“Hey guys, this is Jessie.” Nick said.
“Hi.” I said sheepishly.
“Hi, I’m Brian. This is AJ, Howie & Kevin.” Brian said. As he said their name, Brian pointed to the matching person.
“Jessie is the one that was singing earlier.” Nick said.
“So you’re the singer.” Howie said.
“You were really good.” Kevin told me.
“Thanks.” I replied.
“You know, I was thinking of taking Jessie onto our company. I mean, if you guys think it’s a good idea.” Nick told everyone.
