"Holy shit!" someone yelled.
Once my eyes adjusted to the light I saw Rachel in the middle of the room. "Rach?" I said groggily.
She looked up, "Yeah?"
"You do realize its 3:00 in the morning, right?" I asked.
"Yep. What are you doing awake?" she responded.
"Getting a drink. What about you?" I answered. I saw the brace around her ankle and the white tape that covered it. 'Support.' I thought. I knew the answer to my question before she said it.
"I know what you're thinking and I don't care what everyone else says. I've been thinking about something I said to the doctor and how true it is. Don't worry about me. I'll just be out in the hall and I won't overwork myself." she said. With that, she slipped into the dark abyss of the empty hallway.
I knew that it was now use trying to stop her. She had to prove herself and to the rest of the world that she could do it. She had to overcome the odds. She was just being Rachel. Just being different.
