Chapter 2
“You gotta try one of these muffins that Melissa made. They’re excellent.” Howie said walking through the front door. He shoved a muffin in AJ’s face. Howie and Melissa followed AJ’s lead and sat at the kitchen table. “Rachel came here again last night.” AJ announced. Melissa sighed. “Is she still here?” Howie asked. AJ nodded. “This is the second time this week she’s been here.” AJ said. “I’ll call the others later. Maybe we can get together when you go to rehearsal tomorrow. I think we need to talk to Rachel.” Melissa said. The others referred to the other Boys girlfriends. They had also become friends with Rachel and were familiar with the crap that Pat put her through. “Morning!” Rachel called cheerfully as she walked into the kitchen. AJ was bothered by Rachel’s constant trips to her fantasy world. He didn’t understand why she could be treated like dirt one day and then go and pretend nothing ever happened. Perhaps she was stuck inside an anti-reality bubble and believed nothing could harm her as long as she denied all the evils of reality. She made herself a cappuccino and sat next to AJ. “I see you’re feeling better,” he said. “Yea. I think I was overtired.” Of course. There was always a different excuse as to why she was upset. After eating some breakfast Rachel got up to leave. “Rach! My house 1:30.” Melissa called as Rachel walked out the door. When Rachel got home, Pat was seated on the couch waiting for her. He rushed over to her and hugged her. “I'm sorry baby.” he apologized. He musta been an ass to her last night or she wouldn’t have left. He knew she was at AJ’s again. He wasn’t sure how he felt about Rachel leaving in the middle of the night to go to another guy’s house. “Here I got these for you.” He handed her a fluffy teddybear and 12 red roses. Rachel kissed him on the cheek. “Thank you” she said. Then she went to shower.
