Chapter 7
“Call me everyday.” Rachel said. “Ok I will.” AJ promised. He gave her one last hug before boarding the bus. For a while AJ did keep his promise. Then the conversations became a weekly event. It was a Wednesday night. Rachel was watching tv when the phone rang. “Hello.” Rachel said. “Hey.” came a raspy voice. “AJ!” Rachel squealed. “So tell me about this girl in the picture.” Rachel said. AJ had emailed her a picture of his latest girlfriend. “Her name’s Jen and she’s so amazing. She’s smart, funny, …” AJ continued to ramble about Jen but Rachel was barely listening. There was a strange feeling lurking deep within her. Jealousy perhaps. But then what reason did she have to be jealous? They talked for a bit longer. Rachel laid in bed staring at the ceiling. She tried to clear her mind so she could sleep. She was strongly bothered by something.
