Chapter 5
“Where are you staying tonight?” AJ asked Rachel. “I'm gonna get a hotel room then look for and apartment in the morning.” she said. “Stay with me tonight. You can sleep in the guest room.” Kevin said. Rachel agreed and brought her stuff to Kevin’s car. She gave each of the boys a hug and got in the car. When they got to Kevin’s apartment, Rachel changed into her pajamas. It was late. She stood in the doorway of Kevin’s room. “What do you wanna do?” she asked. Kevin was sitting on the edge of his bed and motioned for her to come closer. She sat next to him. “I think we should watch some TV and catch up on each other’s lives,” he said. Rachel shivered. “Cold?” he asked. “Yea. A little.” she said. He went over to his closet and pulled out a gray hooded sweatshirt. He tossed it to her and she put it on. “This is huge,” she said. “No. You’re just little.” he told her. Rachel pulled Kevin into the kitchen. “Where’s the popcorn?” she asked. Kevin got a bag out and put it in the microwave. He joined Rachel in the other room and turned on the TV. “So what have you been doing with your life?” he asked. “Dance.” she said. “That’s it?” he asked. Yea. Pretty much.” she responded. After high school I moved to New York and went to a dance school. Then I heard about the auditions and I just had to come here.” she explained. “I'm glad you made it.” Kevin said. “Me too. Ya know the first time I saw you on TV I almost had a heart attack. I couldn’t believe it was really you. I followed your career and all I wanted to do was be a dancer for you guys.” Rachel continued. “You followed my career?” Kevin asked in shock. Rachel nodded. “I had to. You wouldn’t believe how much Backstreet stuff I own,” she said. Kevin laughed lightly. He was glad Rachel was finally back in his life. His eyes wandered over to her. She was watching the Tom Green Show. She was laughing. The more she laughed, the redder her face got. “Bathroom’s down the hall. First door on your left.” Kevin joked. This simply caused Rachel to laugh harder. Rachel’s ability to laugh at almost everything was one of the things Kevin had always admired about her. “I'm going to bed now,” she said after she had calmed down. “OK Goodnight Rae.” Kevin said. “Good night Kevy.” she said and kissed him on the cheek.
