Til Death
Chapter Two

Vallery opened the door. She was 5'4", had blond hair, brown eyes, and was pretty. She had straighten her long hair, had on a pink, sleeve-less shirt, and a black skirt.

"Dude, you SO look like Mandy Moore!" Melody laughed.

"Shut up!" Vallery responded jokingly, opening the door wider so Melody could come in. She saw Suzy sitting on the couch. She had on a purple sundress that had small blue flowers all over it. Suzy was the smallest of the three, she was 5'2, had red hair and blue eyes, and was also very pretty. The girls always laughed because of how different they looked. They each had different color hair and eyes. Melody sat down next to Suzy. She gave her a "Why are we doing this look?" Suzy shrugged her shoulders. They all talk about their week while they waited for Nick. A few minutes later they heard a car pulling into the driveway.

"Nick is here," Vallery said, looking out of the window, "and it looks like he brought one of his friends. I thought everyone else was supposed to be at the restaurant." Suzy ran over to the window. "From how Nick described him I think it is Melody's date, wanna come see him?" she asked, turning to Melody.

"No, I think I'll wait until they actually GET to the door," she laughed. A few seconds later the doorbell rang. Vallery opened the door and the two guys walked in.

"Hey, I'm Nick," the tall one was blond hair and blue eyes said, "and this is Aj," he said motioning to the other guy. He was about 5'9" or 5'10", had short black hair with red tips, and had brown eyes that you could hardly see through his shades, and was very skinny. Tattoos covered his arms, not to mention that his ears were pierced multiple times. Oh great, Melody thought, Vallery set me up with a delinquent.

"Guys, this is Suzy and Melody," Vallery said, pointing to them. Aj pulled down the edge of his shades to get a better look. He looked Melody up and down, smiled, then pushed the shades back up. Melody had to bite her tongue to stop herself from saying something rude. She heard Suzy snickered, Melody turned to her and stared at her until she stopped.

"Ready?" Nick asked, Vallery nodded in reply. They all started walking to the car.

"Whoa, who's mustang?" Aj asked when he saw the car.

"It's mine, I just got it a month ago," she told him. You wanna buy it, she thought bitterly; I only have it for another ten days. Nick got into the driver's seat. Suzy and Melody sat in the back. Vallery was about to get in the back when Aj stopped her.

"You can sit in the front with Nick, you are his date after all," he said sweetly. Vallery thanked him as he climbed into the back seat next to Melody.

"I hope it's not too tight of a squeeze for you back there," Nick laughed. The three of them were all so skinny that they had no trouble fitting in the backseat together.

"We'd have trouble if you were sitting back here," Aj shot back. Melody had to put her hand over her mouth to keep from laughing. The drive wasn't very long and soon they were parked in front of a small restaurant. Once Melody had gotten out of the car Aj offered her his arm. She refrained from rolling her eyes and the two walked arm and arm into the restaurant. Be nice, Melody reminded herself. A waiter led them to a table were the others were already seated. Melody looked at each of the guys, they all looked familiar to her, but she dismissed the thought.

"Everyone, this is Vallery, Suzy, and Melody," he started, "and my friends, Howie, Brian, Leighanne, Kevin, and Kristen." They politely stood up to shake hands with the girls. Melody went to shake hands with Howie, who turned out to be Suzy's date, and with her one inch shoes on she was about two inched taller then him.

"I guess it's a good things I'm not YOUR date," Melody said, not thinking. Then it hit her what she had just said, "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. I didn't mean…"

"It's okay, calm down. The height thing, I know, I'm used to it," Howie reassured her, then laughed at the look on her face. Melody's eyes were wide open, she had her hand over her mouth and her face was red. "Why don't we all sit down and eat," he suggested. A few minutes later, after they had ordered, the group talked casually. Melody wasn't paying attention, she sat looking down at and playing with her napkin.

"I just wanted to tell you how beautiful you are," she heard Aj whisper into her ear. Melody jerked her head up, surprised, she had almost forgot about Aj.

"Thank you," she said quietly, she usually wasn't shy, but she wasn't used to being around a guy like Aj. Melody was glad when she saw the waiter coming with their food. He set down a plate with a baked potato and fish. Aj got the fried shrimp. (Author's note: does anyone know if Aj likes shrimp?) The conversation almost stopped once everyone started eating. All of a sudden Melody began to feel very dizzy. Her head began to swim and her vision blurred. Melody stood up, swaying a little.

"Excuse me for a moment," she said, having to hold onto the chair for support.

"Melody, are you okay?" Suzy said standing up, worried.

"Yeah, I'm fi…"Before she could finish Melody had blacked out. Aj jumped up and caught her before she could hit the floor.
