Get ready to groove to the Latin rhythms of Pollyanna, a very talented singer and songwriter who just happens to be the sister of Backstreet Boy, Howie D. Talent obviously runs rampant in her family! Pollyanna Dorough, like her brother, is an exceptionally talented entertainer with several songwriting, singing and acting credits carrying her name. As Howie's older sister, Pollyanna is one of those who first introduced him to the world of entertainment. Pollyanna and the rest of the Dorough siblings grew up in Orlando, Florida, allowing her to sing with local bands, her Cathedral's choir, and of course, at Walt Disney World. In pursuit of her musical dreams, Pollyanna moved to New York where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the Westchester Conservatory of Music and continued singing and acting with a traveling theater group. Before long, Pollyanna returned to her hometown to share her musical talents through education as a music teacher. Pollyanna is now embarking on a new journey. Having performed at the House of Blues, Hard Rock Live and CityWalk's Latin Quarter in Orlando, this multifaceted entertainer continues to show her versatility by acting in the soon-to-be-released "Jack of All Trades", two television series pilots, and a motion picture and now, she is taking it to the studio! Early on, Pollyanna became one of Howie's greatest supporters and watched as he refined his talents as an actor and a musician. Now with all the success he has enjoyed as a Backstreet Boy, Howie is helping his sister achieve the recognition she deserves. Pollyanna's upcoming debut album features a combination of songs with a flavorful Latin feel. Pollyanna Dorough is a multi-talented entertainer, who writes,
sings and dances to her own original songs in Spanish and English
(aka Spanglish) from high energy dance groove numbers to
sentimental personal ballads.
Recently, Pollyanna and brother Howie joined forces with a new
production company called HowieDoIt Productions.
You'll also find her in TEEN BEAT magazine as a monthly celebrity
columnist, with her very own column called ASK POLLYANNA!
Expect many more new and exciting songs as she continues to
write, record and produce with many other talented song writers
and producers such as: Lionel Richie, Dianne Warren, Soul
Solution, Full Force, Rhett Lawrence, Gary Baker, KC Porter,
Denise Rich, Andrew Lane, Mike Mason, David Johnson, Deyon Davis,
and of couse her brother Howie D. Dorough.
Presently Pollyanna is very involved with the DOROUGH LUPUS
FOUNDATION, a non-profit organization started by her family
shortly after her sister, Caroline, had succumbed to the disease
in 1998. Their mission is to raise money for Lupus research,
education, and financial assistance for individuals living with
Lupus who cannot afford treatment. In addition Pollyanna wrote
the foundation's theme song "Fly to Heaven" in memory
of her sister, which will also be used to raise money for their
cause.
The year 2000 was a very busy year for concerts and appearences
starting in April when Pollyanna co-hosted and performed with her
brother Howie at the "JUBILEE 2000 CONCERT" in Miami,
Florida. In late June she along with her brother, family and many
other famous celebrities came together in Orlando, Florida for
"LUPUS 2000." The beginning of many concerts and
fundraisers brought by the DOROUGH LUPUS FOUNDATION. In mid
August, Pollyanna headlined the Evian stage for two nights in
Cologne, Germany for it's "POPKOMM FESTIVAL."
In Mid September, she and her brother were busy performing in
Puerto Rico and Buenos Aires, Argentina in front of 10,000 fans
and supporters to raise money and awareness for the CAROLINE
DOROUGH-COCHRAN LUPUS MEMORIAL FUND. In early October she
performed for Sea World's "VIVA LA MUSICA FESTIVAL" in
Orlando, Florida. Later that month Pollyanna flew to perform in
Malibu, California to raise money for the "LOS ANGELES LUPUS
FOUNDATION OF AMERICA." Thousands were watching her as she
performed in early November in her hometown's "CALLE ORANGE
FESTIVAL." In mid November she co-hosted and performed for
the "UNITED CATHOLIC MUSIC AND VIDEO ASSOCIATION"
(U.C.M.V.A.) and the "UNITY AWARDS" in Washington DC.
From December 18-22, Pollyanna along with her family were busy
performing in the Gulf of Mexico to raise money for their
foundation.
Pollyanna is a very charitable person, and is constantly donating
her time and talent to help other organizations raise money as
well. In mid January 2001, she performed at a Super Bowl
Sanctioned event called "SUPER PAELLA" in Ybor City
Tampa, FL to raise money for the America Red Cross Latin
Initiative Committee. Pollyanna has opened for pop artists:
BACKSTREET BOYS, L.F.O. and Latin Grammy Award singer Ray Ruiz,
to name a few. She has showcased at: Downtown Disney's
"House of Blues," Orlando's "Universal
Studios," "Hard Rock Live," "Latin
Quarter," "The Groove," and at Orlando's hottest
new night spot "TABU." Her orginal song, "Andale
Mi Corazon" can be heard in the soon to be released movie
"Sacred Seal." This multitalented entertainer continues
to show her versatility with her voice-over skills as a princess
in the "Backstreet Boys Webasode" which premiered
August 27, 2000. Finally, you can observe her acting ability as a
"Waitress" in the soon to be released comedic/drama
film "Jack of All Trades."
While growing up in Orlando, Pollyanna has always remaind active
in the musical environment: Working as an entertainer at Walt
Disney World, an active member of her Cathedral's Choir, singing
with various night club bands and with local dinner theaters.
For a short time Pollyanna left the "City Beautiful" to
complete her musical education in New York, where she earned a
Bachelor's Degree in Music from the "Westchester
Conservatory of Music." While in New York, she continued
singing and acting with a traveling children's theatre group
throughout the City's triborough. Pollyanna then returned to her
home town to share her musical talents with the educational
system as a music teacher and children's choir director.
