Jessica woke up when she felt the sun shining on her face. She smiled to herself and jumped out of the bed. Her cat meowed for attention. “Morning Angel,” she said picking her cat up and walking into the front room. She put on her Brian McKnight CD that Brian gave her for Christmas, he wanted his back, and pressed play. The sweet music filled the silent house as Jessica made herself coffee.
“There are other people that live here ya know,” Angie said groggily as she entered the room.
“Hey babes!” Jessica said hugging her best friend. “When did you get in?”
“Last night. Really late last night,” she replied yawning.
“How did everything go?”
“Great! His family is so cool.”
“That’s good. Oh, by the way Happy Birthday!” Jessica said smiling.
“I thought you might have forgotten.”
“Me? Forget?” Jessica teased as she pulled out a box form the drawer.
“Oh Jess. You didn’t have to!” Angie said studying the present.
“We go through this every year. Just open the damn present!” Angie rolled her eyes and started to tear at the wrapping. She couldn’t help but laugh when she saw what was inside.
“What is this?” Angie asked holding up a little toy that looked like a sperm.
“It’s a condom holder,” Jessica said giggling. Also inside the box was a can of whipped cream, handcuffs, and other assorted “toys.” By the time Angie got through all the stuff the two girls were cracking up.
“What’s so funny?” Nick asked as he entered the room.
“Angie’s birthday presents,” Jessica said as she grasped for air.
“Birthday?” Nick said with a confused look on his face.
“Yeah, today’s her b-day. Didn’t you know that?” Jessica asked giving him a look.
“You forgot my birthday!” Angie said angrily.
“I… ummm…” Nick stuttered as he rubbed the back of his neck. Angie crossed her arms in front of her chest and gave him a suspicious look. Nick looked back up at her and saw the look on her face. He couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Angie immediately knew what he was doing and hit his shoulder playfully.
“You little shit!”
“You really think I would forget your birthday?” Nick asked. “I have a special night all planned out for us.”
“Ohh, I like the idea of that,” Angie replied as she leaned into kiss him passionately.
“Can you please wait to do that till I leave,” Jessica said giggling.
“When you leaving?” Nick asked impatiently.
“AJ should be here in about 10 minutes,” Jessica said looking at the clock.
“Where you tow off to?” Angie asked.
“Hawaii.”
“What?” Nick asked confused.
“We’re going to Hawaii for New Year’s Eve tomorrow.”
“How’d you get a hotel room? Isn’t it all full considering the Millennium thing?”
“I own a place on the beach.”
“You’re kiddin’ me?” Nick asked surprised.
“Didn’t I ever tell you that hun?” Angie asked looking at Nick.
“No, that’s pretty cool.”
“It’s a real nice place. Maybe I can influence Jessica to let us go down there and use it some time.”
“Not if you’re gonna do what I think you are!” Jessica teased. Angie laughed as Jessica went into her room to get ready. Ten minutes later she heard a knock at the door but let Angie answer it.
“Hey baby,” AJ said walking into the room.
“Hey,” Jessica replied as she shoved some underwear in her suitcase.
“Almost ready?”
“Yup,” Jessica said as she zipped up her suitcase. AJ walked up behind her and rapped his arms around her waist.
“I’m so glad to be spending the New Year with you.”
“So am I.” Jessica turned around to face him and he leaned in to kiss her softly.
“I love you,” AJ said quietly.
“I love you too.”
“God, I love it when you say that,” AJ said as he brushed his hand across her cheek. Jessica smiled and kissed him passionately.
“We better get going or else we’re gonna miss the plane,” Jessica said breaking away from their kiss. They both picked up a bag and headed out of her room. “I’ll see ya when we get back Ang,” Jessica said on her way out.
“Have fun you two,” Angie said waving as they left. She then turned to Nick and smiled.
“Good, now that they are gone…” Nick said and kissed her passionately. He wrapped his arms around her body and pulled her closer to him. “I love you,” he said in-between kisses.
“I love you too,” Angie replied. Their lips remained locked for a while until Angie pulled away from their kiss. “Hun, I really need to go take a shower,” she said standing up.
“But… but…” Nick pouted.
“I really need one,” Angie said walking away. Nick looked down disappointed. “Well aren’t you going to join me?” Angie asked seductively. Nick looked up and raised one eyebrow. She smiled as she got up and raced her to the shower.

“Only ten minutes till the new Millennium,” an announcer on the radio said. Jessica and AJ lay on a blanket they had set up on Jessica’s private beach. Beside them were two glasses filled with champagne and a bucket that the bottle was in. An occasional firework lit the Hawaii sky. It was a perfect night. The stars shone brightly in the cloudless sky. AJ and Jessica stared up at the sky wrapped up in each other’s arms. Neither of them said a word, they were too caught up in the moment to speak.
“It’s beautiful tonight,” Jessica said more to herself than to AJ.
“Yeah,” he said softly. However, the beauty he was looking at was not the sky. His attention was turned to the beauty that he was holding in his arms. The night had been so perfect. Hawaii was beautiful and they spent every waking moment together. He felt himself falling deeper and deeper in love with her. “I love you,” he said out loud without even realizing it. Jessica looked back at him and smiled sweetly.
“I love you too,” she said and gave him a sweet kiss.
“Do you know how happy you made me when you first said that to me?” AJ asked as he ran his fingers through her hair.
“I had all along but hadn’t realized it. You’re the most amazing, incredible, and sweet guy I have ever met.” They both smiled and leaned in for a kiss. During their kiss ‘Back at One’ started playing. Jessica broke away from their kiss. “I love this song,” she said smiling. AJ stood up and pulled her with him. They swayed together in the moonlight to the sweet song. The song ended but they were unable to break from their embrace.
“Ok ladies and gentlemen only 30 seconds to the new millennium,” the announcer on the radio said.
AJ broke from their embrace and reached down to get the glasses. Jessica looked up and saw a shooting star race across the sky. She closed her eyes and made a wish that this feeling of love AJ gave her would last forever. Her eyes opened back up when she felt AJ’s arms slip around her waist.
“I get a kiss at midnight right?” AJ asked.
“Of course,” Jessica said smiling.
“Ok let’s start the countdown!” the announcer exclaimed.
“5-4-3-2-1- Happy New year!” AJ and Jessica said in unison and then shared a sweet kiss. Dozens of fireworks started to explode over the Hawaii sea and lit up the night sky. Jessica pulled away from their kiss and looked up at the sky.
“Oh, how beautiful,” she said in amazement as the different colors shimmered in the air. The sat back down on the blanket to watch the fireworks. The display went on for fifteen minutes and they watched occasionally taking a sip of champagne.
“I’ve seen a lot of fireworks, but I have to say those were the best I’ve ever seen,” AJ said as the last firework disappeared into the night.
“Yeah, they were pretty good,” Jessica said softly.
“I mean they were beautiful because I’m watching them with you.”
Jessica looked back at AJ and smiled. He brushed his hand gently across her face and she leaned into kiss him. They wrapped their arms around each other as they continued kissing. Their kiss became deeper and deeper as they laid on the blanket. Jessica loved AJ so much. He was so great to her, unlike and guy had been before. The whole night had been so perfect and she knew how to make it even more perfect.
“AJ,” Jessica said as he kissed her neck.
“Uh-hu,” he mumbled in-between kisses.
“Did you bring any protection?” she whispered. He looked up at her a little surprised.
“You mean?” he questioned.
“Yeah,” she said quietly. He smiled and gave her a sweet kiss.
“Of course I do baby.”
She smiled and gave him a quick kiss. They got up and grabbed their things to take back in the house. As soon as Jessica walked back in the door, AJ grabbed her and pulled her close to him. She dropped the stuff in her hands and wrapped her arms around his neck as they kissed each other passionately. They somehow made their way upstairs to the bedroom with their lips still locked. AJ gently laid Jessica down on the bed and started to kiss her neck. He slipped his hands beneath her shirt and pulled it off her as she pulled off his. His lips moved down her body, kissing every portion that wasn’t covered by her bra. Jessica closed her eyes taking in every kiss he placed on her body. His lips made their way back to hers and she kissed him urgently. Jessica reached down and undid her pants, slipping them off him. AJ moved his hands down her body and returned the favor by taking off her jeans. He reached over to where his wallet lay on the bedside table to get a condom. Jessica took it from his hands and put it on him. She then preceded to kiss her way up his lips.
“You sure about this?” AJ asked her one more time.
“Absolutely,” she replied before kissing him again.
“I love you,” he said looking into her eyes.
“I love you too,” Jessica said and leaned into kiss her again.
Then it happened and it was the most incredible thing either of them had ever experienced. They have both had sex before but this was more than sex, this was love. This was the first time either of them made love to someone they loved.
Jessica woke up the next morning to see AJ still asleep. As she stared at him, her thoughts traveled back to the events of the night before. It was better than she could of ever dreamed. She couldn’t of thought of a better night then the night she had just shared with AJ. She smiled to herself as she got up to greet the beautiful morning. As she slipped on her robe her cell phone rang. She quickly picked it up so that it wouldn’t awake her sleeping lover.
“Aloha,” she said quietly as she walked out of the balcony.
“Hey Jess,” she heard George’s voice say.
“Hey uncle George, how’s it going?”
“Pretty good, and yourself?”
“I’m great!” Jessica said smiling brightly as she looked out at the Hawaiian morning sky.
“Well I have great news,” he said excitedly.
“What’s that?” she asked curiously.
“February 14th.”
“Valentine’s Day? What about it?”
“That’s when we are releasing your CD.”
“Your kidding me?” Jessica said excitedly.
“Nope,” he replied and Jessica let out a squeal.
“Oh my God! I can’t believe this!” she said loudly. AJ heard her scream and ran out to see what was wrong.
“What is it?” he asked her worriedly. Jessica turned around and cupped her hand over the phone.
“Our CD is going to be released February 14th!” she exclaimed.
“That’s great!” AJ said giving her a hug. She smiled and turned her attention back to her phone conversation.
“Who are you there with?” George asked.
“AJ,” Jessica answered.
“Is he being good to you?”
“Of course, he always is.”
“Just making sure, I have to look out for my little Jessica,” he said in an almost father-like tone. Jessica rolled her eyes and laughed.
“If I need someone to kick his ass I’ll call you.”
“And I will! He better be good to you otherwise he’ll have to kick his ass. I may look sweet and tough on the outside but on the inside, there is just a raging maniac waiting to come out and kick some ass.”
“I’ll be sure to tell him that,” Jessica said between laughs.
“Remember the rule,” George reminded her.
“Don’t go public until you get established,” she repeated for about the millionth time. “I know George don’t worry.”
“I know, I know, just double checking. Well I’ll let you go then.”
“Ok Uncle George.”
“See you tomorrow night.”
“Ok, bye.”
“Bye,” he said and she hung up the phone. Jessica looked out over the ocean and smiled. AJ wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed her cheek.
“Good morning beautiful,” he said softly.
“Good morning,” she said kissing him on the cheek.
“What was all that with George about?” AJ asked.
“He was just saying that if you ever hurt me he’d kick your ass.”
“Oh really,” AJ said laughing.
“Yup. Between him and Brian you’d be one dead sucker.”
“Well, I don’t think I’m gonna have to worry about that for a while.” he said turning her around to face him. “I had a great time last night.”
“So did I,” Jessica said wrapping her arms around her neck.
“So how good was I?” AJ asked devilishly.
“Ok,” she responded sarcastically.
“Ok? Ok? If I was Just ok why were you screaming my name last night? ‘Oh AJ, oh AJ!’” he mimicked her. She hit his arm lightly and leaned into kiss his lips passionately.
“Well I’m not quite sure about it. Maybe if we try it again sometime I can make my final assumption.”
“How about right now?” AJ asked as he started to kiss her neck.
“Now? Well I’m not sure if I am really up to it,” she said smiling at him devilishly.
“Well I sure am!” With that, AJ picked Jessica up and carried her to the bed.
