Chapter 1

“Alright fellas, go take five and then we’ll finish this up,” the boys’ producer said. All five boys wandered out of the small studio and into the hallway.

“Hey, I’m gonna go call Leigh, I’ll be right,” Brian said walking into an empty conference room. The remaining four nodded their head and headed into the break room.

“What time is it?” AJ asked as he opened a can of coke.

“About 6:30,” Howie answered looking at his watch.

“Shit” AJ exclaimed angrily. He searched for his cell phone and started dialing.

“What AJ you got a date?” Nick asked curiously.

“At 7:00,” he said quickly. The phone rang and he waited for an answer.

“My God your gonna see me in a little while, why the hell are you calling?” Felicity said answering the phone in mock annoyance.

“Glad to hear you voice too,” AJ said laughing. “How did you know it was me?”

“Caller ID.”

“Oh, where are you?”

“On the road, on my way to see you. I don’t know how the hell you talked me into this.”

“Well it will be worth it,” he said mischievously.

“Ok I don’t like the way you said that. Should I be worried?”

“I would,” he said and they both laughed. “Anyway, I called to tell you I might be a little late.”

“So that’s how you work your little game, huh? Get a girl to drive four hours to see you and then be late?”

“I’m so sorry babe, but we’re running a little late. I won’t be that late I swear. If I have to just barge out of here I won’t be more than an hour late.”

“It’s ok, I’m running a little late too. The traffic is horrible tonight.”

“Just wait for me at the bar, I shouldn’t be long.”

“No problem.”

“I can’t wait to see you,” AJ said sweetly.

“You are too much Alex,” Felicity said giggling. “I’ll see you later.”

“Ok, bye baby girl.” AJ hung up the phone with a big smile on his face. He really liked this girl. She was everything he had ever wanted in a woman. They had only been dating for about three months but already she knew that she was the one. He could just see himself spending the rest of his life with her. But he didn’t want to take the relationship too fast. She had had some bad experiences in the past and he didn’t want to be like that to her. He wanted to treat her like a princess, the way she deserved to be treated.

“What’s with the big smile, Bone?” Nick asked giving him a look.

“He’s was talking to his new girlfriend!” Howie answered for AJ in a singsong tone.

“Oh yes the artist from Miami,” Kevin said laughing. “How is it going with her?”

“If it is any of your business or anything, it’s going just great. She is the most amazing woman I have ever met.”

“Yeah, sure, amazing in bed!” Nick teased and the three laughed at AJ’s expense.

“I wouldn’t know,” AJ said shrugging his shoulders.

“Woah woah woah! The amazing AJ has not slept with a girl he is dating yet?” Kevin exclaimed laughing. “What’s wrong man lost your touch? How long you two been seeing each other?”

“About three months.”

“And you haven’t fucked her? That has to be a record!” Nick said truly amazed.

“She’s different man!” AJ said with a hint of anger in his voice. “I really like her. I want to take it slow with her.”

“Wow man you’ve really got it bad man,” Howie said seriously. “What’s so special about this girl?”

“I don’t know she’s just so vibrant, so alive. She’s beautiful and smart too. The night I met her we talked all night. She had so much to say. And she’s so talented. She showed me some of her painting and I was blown away.”

“And where is this lovely lady originally from?” Kevin asked.

“Kentucky actually.”

“An artist from Kentucky? That sounds a little hard to believe,” Nick commented.

“Hey! What’s wrong with Kentucky?” Kevin asked a little offended.

“Nothing. It’s just aren’t artists usually from New York or something?” Nick said.

“God Nick! That is such a stereotype!” Howie said shaking his head.

“Sorry. I just can’t see a state that gave us two dopes produce a magnificent artist,” Nick teased and Kevin slapped him upside the head. Everyone laughed as Nick rubbed the back of his head. “Ouch that hurt!”

“Yeah, well, you deserved it,” Kevin said laughing. “Anyway, I think Brian had a friend who was an artist.”

“What about me?” Brian asked entering the room to hear his name.

“Nick was saying that the only good artist come from New York and places like that. I was telling them that you had a friend that was a artist,” Kevin explained.

Brian’s face fell and his eyes suddenly filled with regret. “Yeah, I did,” he said softly. “The most talented artist I ever met.” His mind traveled back to the days he spent with her and the memories they once had. He stared off into space as he thought about her, knowing he would never see her again.

Kevin knew that he had struck a nerve with Brian. He knew about their past and what happened between the two. For Brian’s sake, he quickly changed the subject. “So AJ, when do we get to meet this mystery lady?” he asked curiously.

“Hopefully,” AJ said crossing his finger, “You’ll get to meet her next week at the party I’m throwing.”

“Why hopefully?” Kevin asked.

“I’m gonna ask her tonight if she’ll come. She might not want to because it’s a four-hour drive. Hell, it took me 3 months to finally get her to come up here to see me. We’ve been meeting halfway. But I really want you guys to meet her. She means so much to me.”

“Well I, for one, can’t wait to meet this lady that has our AJ acting like this,” Howie said laughing.

“You guys are gonna love her. Just don’t get any ideas. I saw her first,” AJ said and everyone laughed.

“You are such a dork,” Brian teased messing up AJ’s hair a little. Just then their manager walked in the room.

“Come one guys. They’re ready for you,” he said motioning them back to the studio. AJ prayed that it wouldn’t take that long, he wanted to be with Felicity as soon as possible.
