Chapter 7

Felicity watched with a smile as AJ escorted her mother into the large stadium. The night so far had gone fairly well. They traveled by limo to one of the most posh restaurants in town, AJ charming it up the entire time. During dinner, her father gave AJ the usual interrogation that made Felicity just a little uncomfortable. But he took it well and answered every question that her father threw at him. After dinner, they all hopped in the limo and headed to the concert venue. On the way there they stopped off at Sara’s apartment to drop off Jimmy and his father, Eric. Felicity seemed to forget about what waited for her at the concert and enjoyed herself while she could. Sitting in the limo watching as AJ and her father discussed cars, a subject that she and her mother had no interest in what so ever, Felicity felt as if this could go on forever. Having her family and him all together just felt right.

“Your mother seems to be really found of your new boyfriend,” Felicity’s father commented quietly as they walked side-by-side towards the venue.

“Well, he did make points by confusing her for Sara when he first showed up,” Felicity replied with a giggle. She knew that he did it on purpose, but it will was still very sweet. “What do you think of him daddy?” she asked her father.

John stopped his daughter and looked at her face. “He’s a very sweet young man and he seems to treat you good,” he started. “But the first time he hurts you…”

“Daddy!” Felicity said rolling her eyes and giving her dad a hug. They broke away and again started to follow AJ and her mother into the venue.

“I just don’t want to see my little girl hurt like the last time,” John said softly.

Felicity stopped dead in her tracks. She had almost forgot about what she had to face tonight. The last couple weeks she had tried her best to prepare herself for seeing him again. But now that she was here, she didn’t know if she could go through with it.

“Felicity, you ok?” Sara asked coming up behind her. Felicity just shook her head in response. Her father didn’t seem to notice her sudden stop and walked up to join AJ and his wife. “Look sis, we talked about this. You need to do this you have to be able to face him.”

“I don’t know if I can,” Felicity said softly.

“You want to be with Alex right?” Sara questioned.

“Yeah.”

“Well then you have to do this for him.” Felicity nodded her head and the two walked to where the other three were waiting by the door.

“What were you two talking about?” John asked his two daughters.

“Nothing,” Felicity said with an uncomfortable smile. Just then the two doors opened and Nick walked through followed by his bodyguard.

“Hey AJ, wasssup?” he said smiling.

“Nick you remember Felicity right,” AJ said taking his hand in hers.

“Of course,” Nick said smiling at her.

“These are her parents, John and Sonja, and her sister, Sara,” AJ introduced. Nick nodded and smiled to each person.

“I hope you guys enjoy the show tonight but if you’ll excuse me I must be getting to my bus,” Nick said as he started to leave but immediately turned around. “Oh, AJ I almost forgot to tell you. There are a couple live ones with backstage passes that have been asking for you.”

“Thanks Nick,” AJ said as he led everyone inside.

“Live ones?” John asked.

“Fans,” AJ replied with a half smile. “Don’t get me wrong, I love my fans and all but sometimes they can be a little too much.”

“Too much?”

“Persistent I guess you can say. They can be very insistent on getting what they want which is usually us,” AJ said forcing a laugh.

“Have they ever gotten what they want?” Felicity’s father inquired.

“John!” Sonja exclaimed giving him a look.

“To be frank Mr. Morgan, I personally never really feel the need to set eyes on any of these girls. I only have eyes for one person and that is your daughter,” AJ said with a smile as he squeezed Felicity’s hand. Felicity’s face turned red and she could hear her mother and her sister whispering excitedly behind her.

A bright smile spread across John’s face and he slapped AJ lightly on the back. “Ya know Alex, why don’t you call me John.”

AJ nodded his head in response and continued to lead them down the several hallways. Felicity couldn’t believe what her dad just said. It usually took her forever for him to warm up to anyone, let alone one of his daughter’s boyfriends, to the point where he is comfortable with the person calling him by his first name. This had to be a world record.

“Do you think I could talk to you alone for a moment?” AJ whispered into Felicity’s ear as they walked hand-in-hand.

“I suppose I can arrange that,” she teased.

“Hey Bubba, why don’t you show these fine folks to the green room,” AJ shouted to his rather large bodyguard. “If you don’t mind I would like to speak with Felicity for a few moments. We’ll meet you guys in the green room.”

“No problem,” John said nodding his head.

“Be right back,” Felicity said smiling as she turned and followed AJ. They passed a sign pointing towards the dressing rooms, the direction in which they were heading. “Oh my! Alexander James McLean of the Backstreet Boys is taking me to his dressing room! Dreams really must come true,” Felicity said dramatically, trying her hardest to imitate a fan.

“Well baby, I thought I’d show you that I was really larger than life,” AJ said deepening his voice. Felicity laughed rolling her eyes as they entered his dressing room.

“Keep dreaming sweetie,” she said nonchalantly as she disconnected her hand form his and sat down on a couch.

“You little twit!” With that AJ attacked Felicity and she let out a sharp cry. He tickled her sides until she took back what she said. “That’s better,” AJ said kissing her delicately. He wrapped his arms around her waist and deepened the kiss. They broke apart and laid their foreheads against each other. “I’ve been wanting to do that all night,” AJ whispered. “I missed you.”

Felicity smiled and kissed him again. “I missed you too.”

“The last couple of weeks have sucked not being able to fall asleep and wake up beside you. I wish you could stay with me tonight,” AJ sighed.

“I do too, but you’ve gotten on my dad’s good side and you don’t want to ruin that by implying we are having pre-marital relations,” Felicity giggled.

“He think you’re still a….?”

“No, but I don’t want to rub the fact in his face. It will look bad on you. Besides,” Felicity said seductively, “we’ll be together in a week.”

AJ raised an eyebrow and smiled. “Ya know I was thinking about that.”

“And…?”

“Well I know you’re not doing anything after that so I thought maybe you could come with me for a week?” AJ said staring at her hands that were now held tightly by his.

“Like on tour?” Felicity questioned.

“Yeah, I thought it might be fun…” AJ trailed off as he looked back up at her.

‘No way!’ Felicity thought to herself. It took her a long time to get used to the idea of seeing Brian for one night, how could she spend a whole week with him?

“I don’t know Alex,” Felicity paused thinking for a plausible excuse. “I mean… I wouldn’t want to crowd things up. Aren’t there enough people around already?”

“It wouldn’t bother me at all to have you around you know that.”

“Well what about when you travel? One more person on that bus with all you guys would be really crowded.”

“We each have our own bus,” AJ stated. Felicity sighed and was about to say something but AJ started to speak before she could. “Just promise me that you’ll think about it?”

Felicity looked at him and shook her head softly. AJ smiled and kissed her again. Felicity had to admit it, she had missed him more than she expected. Maybe she could spend the week with him. They all traveled in separate buses and she could just spend a lot of time in the hotel rooms, which she would probably do anyway, so that she didn’t have to see Brian as much. If AJ only knew what she was going through to be with him…

They were both so into the kiss that they didn’t even hear the door open

“Opps, sorry,” a voice said interrupting their intense kiss. Felicity and AJ broke apart to see Brian standing at the doorway looking like a deer caught in headlights.

“It’s all good Rok,” AJ said with a smile. Felicity looked at Brian for a moment and then nuzzled her head into AJ’s chest. The tension between the two was so thick that it could be cut with a knife. However, only the two of them could sense it. “What can I do for you?” AJ asked.

“Umm… the radio meet-n-greet is about to start,” Brian said as he uncomfortably shifted his weight from side to side.

“Thanks dude, I’ll be there in a few.”

Felicity looked up and stared at Brian for a moment. She could see what she thought was a look of jealousy displayed in his eyes. The thought that he could be jealous that AJ was holding her, made her feel somewhat triumphant. She wasn’t a vindictive person by nature, but she wanted him to feel some of the pain she did. Without realizing it, she cuddled closer to AJ and lightly kissed his neck.

“Bye,” Brian said softly as he left the room. Once he was gone, AJ looked down at Felicity and played with her hair.

“What ya thinking?” he asked.

Felicity looked up at him with a huge smile on her face. “What kind of clothes would be good for traveling in a bus.”

“You really mean it?” AJ asked kissing her nose.

“Yeah,” she replied smiling. “How could I resist spending time with you?”

AJ smiled and kissed her passionately. “I love you,” he whispered.

“I love you too.”

It was true that she wanted to spend time with him, but that wasn’t the only reason Felicity agreed to go with him. Seeing that look of jealousy on Brian’s face made her feel somewhat better about what had happened between them. Maybe showing him what he didn’t have would be therapeutic for her. And, just maybe, it will help her get over what happened and be able to be with AJ without any worries.
