"Ok guys, we’re leaving," my mother Diana Hanson said.

"Bye Mama," my little 6 year old brother Mackenzie said.

"Bye Mackie baby," mom said, giving Mack a big hug.

"Mama! No go!" the baby of the family, 2 year old Zoë, said.

"Oh, it’s ok Sweetie," Mom reassured her. "You’ll see me when I get back later."

Zoë sniffled.

"Are you guys sure you want to give up your new year to baby-sit?" mom asked me.

"Mom, you deal with all seven of us all the time, now you and Dad need a break," I told her.

"You boys are so great," Mom said. "Isaac, I really appreciate this."

"I know Mom," I said.

"Mom!" my 10 year old sister Avery exclaimed as she ran into the room. "I drew you a picture."

"That you, Avie," Mom thanked her. She looked at the drawing, then put it in her purse.

"Walker, are you ready?" Mom called.

"Yes, I am," my Dad said, coming out of the other hotel room.

"All right," Mom said. "We’re off."

"Bye kids," Walker said.

"Bye, see you tomorrow morning," Diana called. "Love you all!"

All seven of us kids said our good-byes, then our parents were off. The madness began.

"Isaac! I can’t find my book!" Taylor said. "Have you seen it?"

"Hey! Where’s Mortal Kombat?!?" Zac demanded.

"Mama!" Zoë cried.

"Isaac! Let’s play cowboy!" Mackie said.

"Ike! Wanna play Gin Rummy?" Jessie asked.

"Who took my coloring book!?!" Avery demanded.

Everyone wanted something. I knew it was going to be a long night…
