Chapter 11

Nick was laying in his bed trying to figure out what it was that he could to win Maya back. He turned on his bedside radio and listened to the music as his mind wandered to Maya's possible whereabouts. Where can she possibly be? He thought about every possible place. Nick thought that maybe she would be at home, but then he realized that she would probably think that that was the first place Nick would look for her. Hmmmm......... does she have ny friends? Thinking of all her close friends in the Bahamas, Nick sighed, frustrated because he had come up with nothing. Besides there was nothing he could do now. Brian's wedding was around the corner and leaving to seek for Maya was not an option. Nick needed to be there for his best friend, especially now when he was getting married. Nick rolled over and look out the open window. To think, just a day ago, Maya was lying there next to him. Now, she was gone. Suddenly a new hope arose within Nick. Could Maya possibly come to Brian's wedding? She had too. She was Leighanne's maid of honor. The two had gotten so close on the Millennium tour. The question was, what was he going to do if she did come? He could try talking to her, but he didn't want to ruin her time at the wedding, which was supposed to be a happy occasion. So what was he to do? What if the wedding was the last time he ever saw her? Frustrated, he jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs. He saw Brian sitting on one of the kitchen stools with Leighanne at his side. He seemed upset and worried, but that was the least of Nick's problems. Without so much as a smile, Nick left the house. He took his car and drove off to some faraway place where he would be able to think and figure out what to do on the day of the wedding.

Meanwhile.....

Shantel firmly gripped the arms of her chair as her plane prepared to land. She was always afraid of flying, but this trip was definitly worth it. She was on her way to visit Maya. The pilot announced their arrival to the Bahamas and gave his warm wishes for everyone to have a nice time. Shantel tried to open the overhead compartment to get her luggage, but it was stuck. She pulled and yanked on it, but it just wouldn't open. Cursing under her breath she gave it one more try. The door flew open and Shantel flew backwards and fell over a young man.

"Oh my God. I am so sorry."

"That's alright, I think I'll live. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, thanks to you."

"No problem. Now don't mind me asking, but what the hell just happened?"

"Oh um, I was trying to open the overhead compartment to get my luggage, but it was stuck and I decided to give it one more try and it worked, but it caught me by surprise and I fell."

"Oh. Okay. Well do you need some help carrying your stuff?"

"Sure, if you--"

"Will you people move?! You're blocking everyone's way. Just help her with her damn luggage and get out of here!!", an elderly man yelled.

"Sorry sir."

They moved out of his way and waited until the ten people behind him left. They then proceeded to gathering her luggage and walking off the plane together.

Fifteen minutes later

"Do you realize that we've been talking for over ten minutes and I don't even know your name?", Shantel asked.

"Oops. My name is Tyler Vaughn. You?"

"Shantel Williams. So, do you live around here?"

"Yes. How about you?"

"No, I came here to visit my friend."

"Cool. Where do you live then?"

"New York."

"Wow. Well, do you need a ride or is your friend gonna pick you up?"

"Actually I need one, because she doesn't know that I came here."

"Okay. You can come along with me and I'll drop you off at your friend's place."

They walked to the area in which people picked up their loved ones and there was a short man standing near a black limosine, waving for them to come over.

"Good afternoon, sir."

"Hello Jack. I'd like you to meet Miss. Shantel Williams. We're going to drop her at her friend's house."

"Nice to meet you."

"Same here."

Shantel gave him the address of the house as Jack opened the car door and let them in. He ran to the other side of the car, not wanting to keep Mr. Vaughn waiting.

"So what are you, some sort of rich businessman?"

"Something like that. I'm the owner of a very successful modeling agency."

"Really? But you're so young."

"23, I know. But it used to be my dad's agency. He passed away and the business was passed on to me."

"Oh, I'm sorry about your dad."

"It's okay."

The car slowed down as it pulled into the driveway of a colonial house overlooking the beach.

"Well, I guess I'll be seeing you. Thanks for the ride."

"No problem. How long are you here for?"

"I'm leaving tomorrow."

"Oh."

Shantel scribbled down her phone number and address and handed the piece of paper to him.

"Here's my New York phone number and address. Call me after a week because I'll be in Florida until then."

"Sure thing. Bye."

"Bye."

He drove off as Shantel walked up the stairs and rang the doorbell. She waited for five minutes until someone finally opened the door. The smile on Maya's face disappeared as soon as she saw who it was.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

"Nice way to welcome a guest."

"You are NOT my guest. How the hell did you find me?"

"I have my ways."

"Get lost. Why don't you just do to Nick and stay there to f**k the shit out of him, since he seems to like you so much."

"As much as I'd love to, I'm here now and I need to talk to you."

"What about?"

"Nick."

"I don't wanna hear anything about him."

"Oh trust me, you'll wanna hear this."
