He was planning on staying out for another 2 hours, but Maya got tired and wanted to go. Nick opened the door slowly and was greeted by Brian.
“Hey man. Where were ya?? I was just gonna go out and look for you.”
“I just took Maya out for awhile. You know, show her around.”
“Got ya. Where is she anyway?”
“She’s sleeping in the car. I thought I should open the door first instead of waking her up."
“Okay. Well I gotta go out and buy some things for Leighanne. You want anything?”
“Nah.”
“Alright. Bye.”
“Bye.”
Nick went out to the car and took Maya into his arms.
“Nicky??”, she murmured sleepily.
He looked down and smirked. She looked so cute when she was sleeping. He made his way inside and laid her down gently on his bed in his guest room.
When he walked out in the hallway, he saw Shantel, but her back was to him so he tip-toed away quietly.
He went into the kitchen and saw Leighanne talking on the phone. She hung up and walked over to him.
“Hey Nick. We never talk anymore.”
“I know.”
“Brian told me about Shantel and you.”
“He did?” “Yeah and I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“I kinda asked her to help with the party because I know how Brian is with preparing. But I honestly had no idea that you were gonna be helping too. I'm soooo sorry!!!"
"That's okay, Leigh. You didn't know."
"I'll just tell her to do something else."
"No, that's okay. I don't want her to get mad at you because of me."
"Thank you so much, Nick. I gotta go now."
She got up and gave Nick a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
