Nick was still sleeping like a baby with Maya in his arms and was just starting to wake up when Brian burst into the room.
"Nick. Get up!", he whispered loudly.
"What? Why?"
"Today's the day."
"I know. I was stuck decorating with Shantel yesterday."
"Yeah, but I need you to do me a favor."
"What?"
"We'll talk about it after you're freshened up."
"Okay."
Nick laid back down and watched Maya sleep. She started murmuring in her sleep and Nick got worried.
"Maya?"
"Nick!!! NOOO!! You can't..... you hate her remember?? Stop!! No, I'm not gonna let you do it!!!!"
Suddenly she started screaming and crying and made it hard for Nick to get to her. He tried to stop her from thrashing about on the bed, but it didn’t work. He tried comforting her with his words, but she didn’t hear him. He was about to pin her down when she woke up with a start.
”Maya?? Baby, what’s wrong?”
”Nick? Oh god. I’m so glad that it was all a dream.”
”What happened?”
”It was that you and Shantel got back together and…. and….. and…. you left me. You said things that…… I can’t believe you said.”
”Maya you know that I would never do that to you.”
”I know…. but it was so real.”
”Maya……?”
”What?”
”Look in my eyes and tell me what you see.”
She looked deeply into his eyes for three minutes and finally said, “I see a guy whose eyes are filled with concern, a guy who wouldn’t do that to anyone, and finally a guy who I’ve fallen in love with for the past three years.”
”See…. I would never-“
”I know Nick. It was dumb.”
”It wasn’t dumb. It was just a dream and I’m glad you told me about it. No come over here.”
He pulled her close to him and kissed her forehead.
”Maya, I want you to know that I love you, baby. You’re my sweet angel and nothing or no one can ever change that. Got it?”
”Nick that was sweet. I love you too. Thanks, that made me feel a whole lot better.”
”Okay Brian, what is it that you wanted?”
”Nevermind, I got AJ to do it.”
”Okay. So are you nervous, happy, or excited?”
”All of them actually.”
”Ready to get your party on?”
”Yeah, but I’m not gonna so anything that would make me untrue to Leighanne.”
”Yeah right, B. I give you five minutes.”
”Come on. For real. Can you make sure that they don’t get any strippers or other stuff.”
”Okay I promise…..”, Nick said with an evil gleam in his eye.
”Come on Nick. Promise.”
”Okay, okay, I promise. Well I’m gonna go get some breakfast. Bye.”
”Bye.”
