Chapter 8

That evening came almost too quickly for Brian, because he was nervous. He was just finishing getting ready when Nick came in the room.

"Nick, don't you ever knock?", Brian asked sarcastically.

"You've known me for almost 8 years, do I have to answer that question for you?"

"No. So what brings you here?"

"Nothing. I just wanted to make sure you don't chicken out or something."

"Chicken out? It's only a party."

"My point exactly Brian. It's your party. Your bachelor party."

"Yeah, yeah whatever. Come on, I bet the guys are waiting for us."

"Probably. But I gotta do something first so I'll meet you there ok? Don't start without me."

"Alright. I promise we won't start."

Nick walked to where Maya was in the kitchen and put his arms around her from behind.

"Hey beautiful."

"Nick, what are you doing here? The party's about to start."

"I wanted to see you and say that I love you."

"I love you too Nick, now go before they start without you."

"Bye angel."

"Bye Nick. I'll see you in the morning."

**Three hours later**

It was around two o'clock and Nick was having the time of his life. Well aside from the fact that he was drunk. He decided to leave the party, which was in Brian's basement, and go get some air. He tripped over the stairs and finally stumbled into the hallway. It was so quiet. He heard someone in the kitchen and made his way there. Nick saw a figure that he assumed was Maya and being the guy he was put his arms around her.

"Hey Maya. What are you doing up so late?"

"Uhhh.... Nick..."

"Just be quiet and gimme a kiss."

He turned the person in his arms to face him and gave her a long, lingering kiss.

He pulled her up the stairs and into whichever room was empty. The one he picked, however, happened to be Shantel's.

Maya was on her way to the bathroom when she saw Shantel and Nick go into a room. Not wanting to intrude on whatever it was they were up to, she walked by, but the things she heard were forever engraved in her mind.

A few giggles coming from Shantel and a loud moan from Nick was all she needed to hear. How could he do this to me? This is not happening. My dream was right. After all the times he said he loved me. Why did this have to happen?? She sunk to the floor and cried her heart out. After ten minutes, fearing that they may come out and find out that she had been listening, Maya quietly tip-toed to her room and cried once again for an hour before she finally calmed down and fell into a fitful sleep.
