"Nicole, you're in the Belville Hospital.", Nick replied.
"Why? God, I have this HUGE headache! Take me home, I wanna go home!", Nicole wailed.
"You have to calm down. You're here because you fainted. The doctor said that you can go home in an hour, but you have to rest for now.", Nick answered gently.
"Okay, but can you get me some water?", Nicole asked.
"Sure, be right back." He got her some water and then walked into the hallway.
When Nicole was crying and trembling, he was so afraid. And then when she fainted....
"Hey Nick!" A voice was breaking into his thoughts. He saw that it was his other best friend, Brian.
"Huh? Oh hey Brian.", Nick said glummly.
"Gee, what a nice way to welcome a best friend.", Brian said.
"Sorry, I'm just no with it."
"You look tired, Nick, why don't you go home, I'll take care of Nicole for a while.", Brian offered.
"Nah, I'm ok. Besides the doctor said that she would be out in an hour.", Nick said.
"Nick, come on, if you dont get some rest, you're gonna be the one in the hospital.", Brian said jokingly.
"Brian, it's ok, really."
"But-"
"I SAID IT WAS OKAY!!!"
"Okay, okay. Sorry, just trying to be a good friend."
"I'm sorry man. It's just that I'm in a lot of now, and I...."
"I understand. I mean she has been your best friend for like-" "17 years.", Nick stated proudly. He noticed that Brian looked hurt after his comment. "But don't worry Bri, no one can replace you."
Brian looked relieved. "How did this happen anyway?", Brian asked, changing the subject.
"Well, we were watching this movie, then we fell asleep. At like 3:00AM, Derrick's mom called and said that her son was in the hospital because of an accident. I overheard the doctor say that he died. Then Nicole started to scream and I carried her upstairs after she calmed down and fell asleep again. The a while later i had this nightmare and a few minutes later, Nicole had the same thing. She had a fever and I went to get her a wet cloth. Next thing I know we're in the hospital because she fainted.", Nick explained.
"Oh. who's Derrick anyway?", asked Brian.
"Um..., he was her boyfriend for 3 years until about a month ago. Their break up was like the talk of the school."
"Why, was it that bad?" "Yeah, it was. You see..... well, I don't know exactly what happened because she wouldn't talk about it to anyone about it. I think that Derrick and her went to a dance at his school and then he got drunk and then he got physcotic in the car when he was supposed to drive her home."
"Whoa"
"Yeah. And she locked herself in her room for 2 weeks. I actually wanted to beat Derrick up, but Nicole stopped me.".
"How come did she still feel sorry for him? If I was her I would have let you beat the shit out of him.", Brian stated.
"Yeah, I know it's just that I think she wouldn't let me do it for my own sake. Like maybe she figured that I would get in trouble and she couldn't tolerate it. Oh my God! I just remebered! Mrs. Davidson took him to the same hospital."
"I just have one question though. Why would she call Nicole? I mean she probably should have known all about.", Brian asked curiously.
"I don't know, Brian. I just don't know."
