Nick whimpered as he slowly tried to get out of bed. After a few minutes, he finally succeeded and with a chorus of “ow’s”, he continued the long journey down the steps to the kitchen for some ice. “Oh my god, what the hell did I do?!” he whispered to himself. Finally, Nick made his way to the kitchen, grabbed some ice and went to lay on the couch. I’ve gotta see what happened… Nick thought to himself as he picked up the phone and dialed Cate’s cell phone number. “ring…ring…ring….hello?” Nick heard a sobbing Cate answer. “Cate? Baby? It’s Nick hunnie.” he replied into the phone. “Nick? God you had the nerve to call me after calling out KAT’S name and not mine?! I can’t believe you Nick. Look, leave me alone right now. We’ll talk when I get home but I need time now. Bye.” Nick sat on the couch in shock at what he heard as the sound of Cate hanging up rang through his ears.”
Em kept hearing the sound of ringing through the phone as she sat on the bed she once shared with Brian with tears threatening to spill over. “God Lissa, please please pick up…” Em whispered. Finally she gave up hope and hung up the phone sitting on the bed and just trying to breathe. Ok, I’ve gotta call Evan…ok yeah I’ve gotta breathe first Em thought to herself then quickly picked up the phone and dialed Evan’s number as fast as she could. “ring…ring…ring…Hello?” Em heard Cale say on the other line of the phone. “Cale?” Em asked. “Hey Em! What’s up?” Cale replied. “Nothing much, hey is Evan there by any chance?” she questioned. “yeah, hold on. He’s right here Em.” Em held her breath until she heard E van pick up the phone. “Hello? Em?” “Yeah, hey Evan. Ummm, I’ve gotta talk to you.” Em told him. “Yeah, what’s on your mind hun?” Evan questioned. “Well, I’m sure Meg told Cale that we have, I mean had boyfriends. In fact, I know she did and I’m just calling to say that, well, I’m not going out with Brian anymore. He actually um, cheated on me with a good friend of mine and I realized that I couldn’t deal with it so I wanna be with you…I mean if that’s ok with you.” Em quickly told Evan all in one breath. “Evan? is it ok?” she asked. “Yeah Em, it’s ok.” Evan replied with a wide smile on his face.
Brian showed up at Amy’s doorstep not knowing where to turn or what to do. Reluctantly he knocked on the door and waited patiently for Amy to come see who was there. “Brian? What’s wrong?” Brian suddenly heard as he looked up at Amy with tears in his eyes. “Can I come in?” he questioned. “Sure Bri. Come on in.” she told him ushering him into the house. As soon as Brian got into the house he plopped down on the couch and when Amy sat next to him, Brian started to cry and explain what had happened. When he was finished explaining, he looked up at Amy who showed nothing but sympathy. Suddenly, as if he were drawn by a magnet, Brian leaned in to kiss her. Amy saw what was happening and stood up quickly, leaving Brian to kiss the couch. “Brian, I’m sorry. I mean if it were a few days earlier, I’d be so willing to do this…but not now. I can’t do it now.” Amy quickly looked towards her bedroom, pulling Brian into the kitchen and started whispering. “Brian, Josh is here. We’re dating now. I need this, I’m so happy right now and I want to keep it that way. I’m sorry. I’m here for you whenever you need me though. You know that right?” Brian quietly nodded. “Thank you Amy, for listening.” “No problem sweetie.” Amy replied while giving Brian a hug.
Aj and Megs walked into the living room to find Nick lying on the couch with tears streaming down his face. On instinct Meg rushed to his side. “Nick, what happened. Oh my god what happened to Cate? Are you ok? Is she ok? Nick what happened?!” Meg asked all in one breath. “No…I’m not ok. I don’t think Cate’s ok either. Oh god Meg please don’t hate me. I just..i didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t mean to call out Kat’s name. I didn’t even realize what I did. God I’m just so sorry…” Nick replied while sobbing. Meg sat next to Nick and put her arms around him, holding him until he stopped crying while mouthing, “Will you take care of him? I need to find Cate.” to Aj. Aj quickly nodded and looked down at Nick only to find him sound asleep. Meg gently laid him back down on the couch, picked up her car keys and walked out of the house to find Cate after kissing Aj goodbye.
