Chapter 17: I don't know why

“…But under skinned knees and skid marks, past to places you used to learn, You howl and listen, Listen and wait for the echo’s of angels who won’t return; He’s everything you want, He’s everything you need, He’s everything inside of you that you wish you could be, He says all the right things at exactly the right time, But he means nothing to you and you don’t know why….”

‘I have to tell Courtney how I feel about Stefania” Howie reminded himself but when he walked into the door of his home smelling the dinner Courtney had made he was a little bit confused again. ‘Why me?’ he asked to no one in particular.

“Honey, you home?” asked Courtney. She walked out in his line of sight with nothing but an apron on. His mouth about dropped in shock. She smiled seductively.

Call it womanly instinct but she knew she was fighting for her man and she was not about to lose. She didn’t plan on marrying him or anything extreme but she would keep him as long as she needed him.

“Dinner is almost ready.” She told him before walking back into the kitchen. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. All previous thoughts had disappeared. He had a beautiful, sexy girlfriend…What could he do with ‘the girl next door’ type after Courtney…nothing.

Kevin sat in his house, his big giant house.

ALONE.

Loneliness crept throughout his body. Why do I feel so alone when two girls are interested in me? He asked himself. No answer came. No comforting thought either.

NOTHING.

He wanted to cry but he knew that crying a few tears would not help the situation any. Loneliness was bad enough. But he was also confused.

WHO? WHO DO I WANT?

He asked himself over and over. He loved his girl Lea, although she didn’t seem as intensely into him. Then there was Heather. Heather was like his best friend. He had known her for so long and they clicked and to find that she felt something more than the strong bond of friendship made him wonder, Would it work?

That didn’t matter much now though. Right now he was alone.

“Josh…” Amy called. He came running to her side. They had been spending a lot of time together, almost all day everyday except when he had to work.

“What do you need?” He asked in a funny voice. She giggled.

“I just wanted a kiss.” She innocently replied. He quickly planted a small one on her.

“Sweets we need to talk.” He said sounding like a pimp. He was actually very nervous about saying what he needed to say.

“Yes.” She said encouraging him.

“I think that we should just be friends.” He commented. She was ready to slap him.

“What?” She asked with attitude.

“See, my ex girlie Katie and I are trying to work things out and although you are a great gal, she will always have my heart.” He explained.

“You asshole!” She exclaimed and ran downstairs. He followed but she shoved him out.

Amy felt unworthy of everything. She never got to be first, always second. Now was the time to move on up. She quickly ran to the phone and called Brian.

“See Nick. I am alone. Both of them dissed me.” Brian finished explaining as his phone rang. He pulled it out and was surprised to hear Amy’s voice. He smiled. Nick took that as a good sign and his ears perked up.

“Sure, AMY, you can come to my place. How about I pick you up?” Brian offered. Amy quickly agreed and Brian quickly filled Nick in.

“Hey Nick, Thanks, Good luck with Cate and Kat.” Brian said as they re entered the car. They drove up to Amy and Cate’s. Amy joined the car and Nick left to try and patch things up. He hoped he wasn’t wasting his time.

Brian smiled at Amy. She smiled back. Both didn’t really have good motives behind there happy faces but they were in it together and that is what mattered. Bri speed home and the minute they were in the door, they eloped into a fierce kiss. Passion exploded. WANTS. NEEDS, Yearnings. All waiting for their turn to be fulfilled. Clothes were being tossed everywhere. Nakedness. ATTRACTION. In and out. In and out. As it ended they smiled again. They got what they needed and a whole lot more. He wrapped his arms around her and they stayed like that till morning. A phone ringing woke Bri up.

“Chels oh my God. Mark is soo cute.” Lissa gushed.

“I know.” She replied as she sat on some guys lap and he began to kiss her neck. Lissa rolled her eyes. She was having a ball. The party ended around 5am and she went home tired, happy, and unfulfilled. She received a message from Em about house hunting. She missed her old life, and friends. But could she just give up the one she was beginning to live?

After Megs drove Em home, they sat and watched horror movies and ate junk food all night, AJ and Nick joined them. AJ because he was bored and wanted to spend time with Meg. Nick because Cate would not talk to him and Kat went to her own house for once and he couldn’t track her down. He didn’t mind, Em was making him laugh and feel a bit better. After watching Rosemary’s Baby Meg and AJ decided to go to bed together. They just needed to get out some kept in desires for the evening…

Meanwhile Em and Nick were both avoiding bed. They were too unhappy under the surface to sleep. They finally ditched the movie thing and started to have a heart to heart conversation pouring out all the information they could. Some tears fell, Hugs were exchanged and it felt good to get it out but didn’t ease the pain. The emptiness. The unworthiness.

“Would you mind sleeping together?” he asked. She gave him an odd look. “In a bed, with clothes.” He explained. She laughed and made a funny face making him laugh too. But she nodded.

“Thank you Nick.” She said. And before either of them knew it. Their lips met. Their mouths slowly opened to reveal eager tongues but the ‘making out’ didn’t last long.

“Its only one night. Let’s just go to bed.” He commented. She nodded feeling extremely guilty. But she slept in his arms on the couch. I

n the morning when he awoke he called Brian, hoping he wouldn’t wake Em.
