“Em?” Brian questioned while turning the key in the lock of the house he shared with Em and opening the door.
“I’m upstairs Brian” She called down to him as he slowly walked upstairs wondering if he was truly doing the right thing by telling her it was over…again.
“Cupid doesn't lie, But you won't know unless you give it a try, ooh baby, True love won't lie, But we won't know unless we give it a try
Brian heard these words and stopped in his tracks at the top of the stairs. ‘Should I do it?’ he questioned himself as inwardly he told himself yes, it was for the better.
“Em, we need to talk hun…” he told her as he walked into the room. Quickly, she turned around and shut off the stereo that played those haunting words.
“Yeah…I know.” She told him with a look of sadness in her eyes.
“You do?” He questioned her.
“Yeah… I know. We’re not working Bri. It’s just not there anymore, at least not like it used to be. I don’t know if it will ever be. And if we’re not working and we’re struggling, that’s just time taken away from when you could be with Amy. Go to her Bri, she needs you.” Em looked up at him with a small knowing smile as Brian flew at her and wrapped her in his arms.
“Oh Em, thank you. I knew it was the right thing to do. I mean, are you sure? Are you sure this is what should happen?” He questioned concerned pulling her back from him so he could look into her eyes.
“Yes…Brian, go to her.” she quietly told him while lightly pushing this man acting like a giddy child out the door.
“Thank you Em, I’ll call you later okay?” He called to her while skipping down the steps. (MN: LOL I can just picture Bri skipping down the steps! hehe)
“Okay” she whispered as she slowly flicked on the stereo back to “Cupid” and slid down the wall hugging her knees close with tears in her eyes. ‘Why won’t it work?’
“C’mon Cate, we’re gonna be late for the movie!!” Amy yelled up the stairs, jumping up and down impatiently.
“IIII”M COOOOOMING DAMMMMIT!” Cate screamed back, making Amy giggle as the doorbell sounded.
‘Dammit I’m gonna have to answer that and then we’ll never be on time for the movie…’ Amy thought to herself as she opened the door. Suddenly a person flew at her, wrapped her in their arms and kissed her with the utmost passion they could muster. (MN: HAHAHA COLONEL MUSTARD!!!) She started to push away, then recognized the kiss. The kiss she missed for the past 3 weeks. After realizing this, small teardrops started to fall from Amy’s eyes while kissing the man she was waiting for. Quickly he pulled away and smiled at her, then noticed the tears and frowned.
“Amy…what did I do? I’m so sorry, please baby, please don’t cry.” He pleaded her as he wiped the small tears away from her face. She just grabbed him back to her and kissed him yet again, happy to be back in his arms, and back in his heart.
“Okay, we can leave now, Ms. Bitch.” Cate called jokingly as she walked down the steps. “Well…ummm…Hi Bri.” She giggled turning around and walking back upstairs muttering “well, I shoulda been down sooner, that’s it for the movie…”
Kat was curled up in the bathroom crying as the door shook with the anger of Nick from the opposite side.
“Dammit Kat, let me in.” He screamed. “ I just wanna play baby, come on!”
“Nick…I don’t wanna play your games anymore. I can’t. You hurt me Nick, not even just emotionally, you physically hurt me! I’m not coming back out until you leave or until you’re the Nick I used to know. I think you should get help Nick…” She told him. Through the barrier of the bathroom door, she felt safer telling him these things.
“You think I need help?” He accused slamming the door even harder making the hinges crack a little more as Kat, terrified, opened the bathroom window and looked out, seeing if she could get out. Deciding she’d be okay getting out, Kat squeezed through the window and ran to the only person that could fix this for her.
“Howie why won’t you marry me?” Courtney pleaded. It was the same question over and over again. It never ended, her money thirsty antics became clearer and clearer with each time she pleaded with him to marry her. The commitment issues excuse wasn’t quite cutting it anymore. So Howie decided to experiment with a new scheme.
“I love Em.” He told her, stone faced, watching Courtney.
“YOU WHAT?!” She screamed. “Why the HELL is your stuff there and you’re fucking always here then Howie? HUH? You don’t love Em, you love ME.” She scolded him as she just looked at her and a smile crossed his face as realization hit him.
“I love Em…” he quietly whispered, more to himself then Courtney. “Wow…” He’s finally come to terms with why he couldn’t be there when Brian was, and what that feeling was when he was with her. Not giving it a second thought, Howie walked out of the house, hopped him his car, and drove to the woman he knew he loved.
Lissa was wrapped up in Mark’s arms, content at everything as they sat and watched tv. Mark was flipping through the channels when his eyes fell upon a show of blooper weddings. Stopping at this, he got comfortable and watched the show.
“I wonder which one of us will get married first…” Lissa thought out loud, catching Mark off guard.
“You didn’t know?” He questioned her.
“Didn’t know what…” She asked becoming really interested.
“AJ bought a ring for Meg last week… it should be in today.” he confided to her, suddenly realizing just how stupid that idea was as Lissa jumped up and started screaming.
“OH MY GOD!! I can’t believe it!! Meg’s gonna get married!!!” She cried jumping up and down as Mark shook his head.
“Damn I shouldn’t have done that…” He scolded himself.
AJ walked into the house he shared with Meg, after picking up the ring that he’d waiting for a week for. He had it all planned out, everyone would go to dinner tonight and he’d ask her there because he wanted all of their friends to be there. Almost as if on cue, Meg walked down the steps to him.
“Hey baby, where’ve you been?” she questioned him before kissing him lightly.
“Nowhere…” he replied mysteriously. “Now go get your sexy ass upstairs and into something nice so we can go to dinner soon.” He instructed her as she turned and laughed at him.
“Yes sir.” She kidded as she walked back up the stairs to change for dinner. AJ just watched her walk up the stairs in admiration, reflecting on how much he really loved her.
‘Damn, I’ve gotta get ready myself.” He realized as he walked up the stairs to the room he shared with Meg to grab his outfit for dinner that night.
**AN HOUR LATER**
Once everyone was seated and enjoying their dinner, AJ stood up and tried to call everyone’s attention.
“Hey guys? Can I have your attention for a few minutes?” He asked, grabbing Meg’s hand and pulling her to stand up with him. Confused, she stood up with him and watched as everyone stopped talking and eating.
“As all of you guys know, Meg and I have been dating for a while, and I’m sure you all know about how much in love I am with her and vice versa. “ He explained with a smile. “I just wanted you all to be here for when I pledge my love to her.” At this, AJ got down on one knee before Meg as all the girls at the table gasped and Meg let out a knowing cry, holding her hand over her mouth.
“Baby…I love you so much. You’ve been my best friend and my lover for so long and I never want to loose you. Will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me Meg?” He asked her while looking up at her, awaiting an answer as Meg stood in front of him crying.
“No…” She told him quietly. “No AJ, I can’t marry you. Not now, I can’t. I’m too young…” She trailed off as tears also fell from AJ’s eyes.
