Amy woke up slowly, looking around at her surroundings as the night before slowly came back to her. She quickly scanned the room to see if anyone else was up and stopped on Em tightly wrapped in Brian’s arms as they quietly slept. Instantly she felt a pang in her heart and the tears ready to pour out as she quickly jumped off the couch where she’d been sleeping and walked into the kitchen to put the scene behind her. Looking around the kitchen, Amy found a can of Folgers coffee and quickly put it into the coffee pot as she scanned the fridge for something to eat. “Anything edible in there?” Amy heard someone ask behind her as she spun around to face Brian. “Oh ummmm, yeah well, no” She finally spit out, nervously giggling. “Well then, I guess I’ll go out to the store and grab some bagels and stuff.” Brian told her while grabbing his car keys. “Want a ride?” He inquired. “Me? Oh no, I’ve found a toaster strudel, I should be fine, thanks though!” She told him, breathing a sigh of relief at getting out of that awkward situation as he said goodbye and walked out the door. Quietly putting her head in her hands and fighting back tears of frustration, she heard footsteps behind her. Fearing it was Brian again, she fixed her hair and looked in the microwave door to make sure she looked ok. (MN: hahaha I always do that!) “Hey Amy!” She heard a perky Meg say as Meg walked around the kitchen looking in cabinets for something to eat. “Hey Megs” Amy replied, sitting back down and sulking yet again. “Now where are those….A HA!!! YES!! CHEEEERIOS! WHOO HOO!” Meg yelled while jumping around with her cheerios and suddenly stopping, noticing the glum Amy. “Aight Amers, wuz up?” She said while sitting down and pouring herself a bowl of cheerios. “Well…you know how I like Brian right? Well…it looks like he likes Em, and I’m pretty sure she likes him too and….it just…hurts, ya know?” Amy told Meg as a tear escaped her eye. “:Well sweetheart, I know it hurts. I mean, we’ve all been through that. God remember Joe? I was soooo horrible with that wasn’t I?” Meg laughed at the memory as she went to hug Amy. “Awww Amers, come on. You know how much I love Em, but if Brian doesn’t see how great of a girl you are, he doesn’t deserve my bestest buddy! End of discussion!” Meg replied while scooping a spoonful of Cheerios into her mouth and banging the spoon onto the table to show emphasis, making Amy giggle. “Did I just hear my name?” Em asked while sleepily walking into the kitchen and plopping herself into a chair. “Yup! We were just talking about how Brian wanted Amy to tell you that he’d left for…ummmm” Meg said while looking at Amers for help. “Bagels and stuff” Amy quickly replied. “Yup! That was it! Ya know me, the wannabe blonde! I just keep forgetting things” Meg laughed making Em and Amy laugh as well. “What’s all the laughing about” Cate asked while walking into the kitchen with Nick and Aj behind her. “Yeah, whatcha laughing at babe?” Aj asked while standing in back of Meg wrapping his arms around her waist and putting his head on her shoulder. “Just something I said. Ya know me, the comedian.” Meg replied while smiling while Amy and Em laughed yet again. “Is everyone up?” They all heard Brian ask and all turned their heads towards the living room as Meg caught Amy’s eye to see if she was ok and getting a smile in return. Satisfied that Amy was ok, Meg told the group that she was getting a shower, walked over to the sink to rinse her bowl, then caught Aj’s eye and smiled seductively. “Yeah ummm, I’m well yeah, going upstairs. Hold up Megs, I’ll uh walk you up.” He told her as he picked her up and ran up the stairs as everyone in the room looked at each other and laughed as they all made breakfast.
2 hours later
Cate and Nick were sitting on the couch “watching tv” when suddenly there was a knock at the door and Cate jumped up to answer it, finding Lissa standing outside. “Hey hun!” Cate greeted her and gave her a hug. “Hey Cate, what’s up?” Lissa asked as she walked into the house. “Nothing much. Looking for anyone in particular?” Cate asked. “Actually yeah…Is Aj here by any chance?” Lissa asked as Cate directed her into the kitchen. Lissa quickly walked into the kitchen, running over what she would say to Aj in her mind but when she walked into the kitchen, her breath was caught in her throat at the sight of Aj. He was wearing khaki pants and a white wife beater sitting at the kitchen table reading the paper. Oh my god he’s gorgeous She thought, completely forgetting she was in plain view. “Hey Lissa wuz up?” Aj asked her, looking up from his paper. “Oh um, nothing much. Well actually Aj…I wanted to talk to you bout something.” She told him as Aj looked at her with inquiring eyes. “Come here and sit down” he told her while pulling out the chair next to him. “Well yeah..this is really hard to say actually Aj so yeah, just try to stick with me…”
At the same time
“Hey guys do you know where….whooooa nevermind!” Meg said while quickly walking away from the scene of Cate and Nick on the couch making out while laughing to herself. “Hmmm, I wonder where Aj went..” She pondered as she quietly walked towards the kitchen to see Aj and Lissa talking and paused in the doorway as to not interrupt.
“Well yeah…this is really hard to say actually Aj so yeah, just try to stick with me….” Lissa told him as she sat down and he nodded. “Well…god this is really hard.” She told him. “Come on Lissa, just tell me. You don’t have to keep things from me, we’re friends.” Aj told her. “I know…well ok Aj. I’ve kept this to myself for a long time and right now, well I just feel as if I have to tell you this,” Lissa said then pausing to take a breath and collect herself. “I love you Aj…”
