Four

Isaac parked his Neon in the second parking space from the door. Zoe's blond curls bounced as she did, flying around her head like tiny golden airplanes.

Isaac leaned over to unbuckle her. "Come on, Zo. There's a pack of Skittles in here with your name on them."

He saw Julie as soon as he entered the store. Glancing at her quickly, he kept walking until he reached the coolers. He grabbed a Mountain Dew for himself and a Koolaid Kooler for Zoe, who was already waiting at the counter with a handful of Pixie Stix.

"Got what you want, Zoe? I got you a drink, too." Isaac looked up and met Julie's eyes.

"Isaac! It's good to see you again." Julie gave him a shy smile as she carefully rang up their items. "I didn't expect to see you for awhile; you ran out of here so fast."

"Oh, I was just in a hurry. I didn't mean to be rude." Isaac handed her a twenty. "It's good to see you too."

She sounded genuinely surprised. "Oh, thank you. Is this your daughter?" She leaned over the counter to see Zoe. "How old is she, two?"

"Two and a half. Her name is Zoe."

"Wow. She's just about the same age as my son, Corey. Maybe we could arrange a play date for them," she added hopefully.

"Is tomorrow good for you?" Isaac blurted out. "I mean, I have tomorrow off. We could meet at St. Bernadette's Park on the north side."

Julie's eyes lit up. "Sure. Corey would love that. How about noon? I'll fix a picnic lunch."

"Great. I'll bring dessert," he offered. "See you then."

"Bye, Isaac. See you tomorrow."

Isaac tossed Zoe in the air. "Thank you, little sister. I've got a date."
