"So are you ready?" Lila asked asked her best friend Crystal as they waited for Lila's boyfriend to pick them up.
"Yeah, but they're not here yet," Crystal flashed that oh so familiar smile. The one she had always given the judges.
Lila both admired and envied Crystal. Crystal had a great tan, great figure, gorgeous hair, perfect smile, and crystal green eyes. Lila couldn't compare with her hazel eyes, light brown hair, pale skin tone, and alright figure, well atleast that's what she had thought. Everyone could honestly say that Lila was the better of the two when it had come to personality...
Lila was funny, athletic, and sweeter than sugar. Crystal on the other hand was not big on sports, was conceited, could be a tease, and her only soft spot was compassion.
"Don't worry they'll be here soon," Lila comented even though her impatience was growing as well. As if on cue, the door bell rang, and Lila rushed up and opened. She was face to face with the him and the flung there arms around each other. You'd think they hadn't seen each other in a year, Crystal thought to herself.
"Baby, this is my best friend Crystal. Crys this is Brian and the rest of the boys. Nick, AJ, Howie, and Kevin.
"Well, hi boys," Crystal said rather cooly as she picked up her bags and went out to the bus.
"What's up her ass?" AJ commented
"Well, she is a beauty queen," Nick laughed a little.
"Didn't know they carried bags," AJ replied.
"Ok guys! That's no reason to make fun of her," Lila pointed out as they all headed to the bus.
"Lila of course your by Brian, and Crystal is above AJ," Kevin instructed once they were all in. Crystal found her way to the entertainment room, and opened up her diary.
"Hey, Crystal we're going to McDonalds, what do you want?" AJ asked as he popped his head in the door.
"They do have those little salad things in the cups, right?" Crystal asked him.
"Uh, yeah, McSalads. You want that?" AJ looked at her weird.
"Uh, yeah, and tea please?" Crystal tried to mock him, but obviously he didn't get the line.
"Alright..." AJ replied as he slipped out of the door,"man she takes this whole beauty thing way to seriously."
"Why what'd she order?" Howie asked looking up from his newspaper.
"Salad and tea, right?" Lila guessed.
"Bingo, we have a winner!" AJ joked as he sat on the couch," so how did you know that anyway?"
"Duh, I've only been her best friend since what?9th grade?," Lila smiled. AJ smiled back quickly, God, one day you have to hook me up with a sweet, and funny girl, like Lila.
Crystal stayed in the entertainment room. Why did he think it was weird that I got a salad? I usually always get a salad...well he just doesn't know me yet, she thought, but dismissed it very quickly.
She walked into the room that they were all in then sat on the couch. Everyone , but Lila and Brian whom were too concerned with each other, looked at Crystal oddly. Crystal sat there for a few minutes letting their cold stares burn a hole at her until she couldn't take it long, which wasn't, that long.
"What?" Crystal asked questioning the stares of which usually she felt so comfortable under.
"Nothing" AJ replied back at her. Man is this chick a snob or what? Salad, I bet she doesn't eat half of it, and I hope she loses that Miss America thing or whatever, he thought as he glared at her.
"Ok," she glared back at him a little and went to her sanctuary. AKA her bunk. She sat there in the darkness thinking. Maybe he doesn't like me, ugh, Crystal of course he'll like you. I mean you're beautiful, right? She thought as she tried to convince her self that someday AJ would like her.
"Crystal!" Nick yelled from the kitchenette on the bus.
"What!" Crystal yelled back, Man he's an annoying dude, she thought as she yelled back at him.
"Salad..." he said a little quieter. Crystal slowly walked walked up to the kitchenette and sat kinda close to AJ, her excuse being the infamous 'no where else to sit' scheme.
She's not gonna eat it all, AJ chanted in his mind, looking at her.
Crystal thought of why he was giving her that look, Oh my gosh, he thinks I'm one of those little picky eater types. Oh boy, I' m gonna prove him wrong. She glanced continously at him from her first bite to his last.
AJ looked surprised at Crystal , maybe I was wrong...
Ha ha, eat your heart out, Crystal strutted back to her bunk.

"Crys, Cryssi, Crystal," Lila was on her third attempt of waking her best friend up.
"What?" Crystal moaned as she realized she must have fallen asleep.
"Well, we're at the concert arena, you should atleast come out for a while. The guys have a sound check, then a break, then they get ready for the concert, then perform..."
"Yeah and then they come back here, go to a hotel, get up and go to the next city and then for the next two weeks we sleep on this damn bus then we get a hotel every know and then," Crystal interrupted very unenthusiastically ",right?"
"Right," Lila half-smiled. I wish she would just think of how cool it could be and just be social. Thousands of girls would kill to be doing what she's doing, but she looks on it as a burder. Maybe she should have stayed home.
Crystal got up very dizzily. First things first, make-up, she thought as she headed for the bathroom and locked the door. First she put on some silver eyeliner, and shimmery pale purple eyeshadow, some berry colored lipstick and looked at herself in the mirror. I really don't look that bad without all that make up...
"What is she doin'?" Howie asked Lila as the waited for Crystal to hurry up.
"Makeup," Lila said tiredly.
"Oh, god," AJ groaned as he rolled his eyes.
