Because Of You

Based on the song performed by: 98*

-----------------------------------------------------
You're my sunshine after the rain
You're the cure against my fear and my pain
Cuz I'm losing my mind when you're not around
Its all (It's all) It's all because of you

"Take a break, Lance....just chill," he thought to himself as he settled in his bunk.  Lying there, staring at the ceiling, his mind travelled only to Lisa.  Clutching the stuffed animal tight that she had given him, he smiled at the thought of their first meeting.  If it hadn't been for Justin and Laura, the two never would have met, but it was surely a blessing.  Their friendship was so special, and Lance knew he could turn to Lisa with anything.  It seemed that when life had gotten him down and he needed some cheering up, Lisa was there.  She was like a ray of light that had entered his life, and sometimes, late at night before he slept, he thought to himself that she had to have been an angel in disguise.  The bus slowly lulled him to sleep, and he snuggled his blankets, calm and secure, there in his own little world.
----------------------------------------------------------
Baby I really know by now
Since we met that day
You showed me the way
I felt it then you gave me love I can't describe
How much I feel for you
I said baby I should have known by now
Should heave been reight there whenever you gave me love
And if only you were here
I'd tell you yes I'd tell you(oh yeah)

----------------------------------------------------------
"Ugh Laura, you just don't get it," Lisa sighed, frustrated with her best friend.

"Don't get what, Lis?  I get it...you like Lance, but hun, there is nothing that I can do about it.  If I've told you once, I told you a million times, Justin and I are not getting involved in your personal life.  It's just not going to happen.  You have to let fate take it's course," Laura sighed back out of equal frustration.  She loved Lisa dearly, but she and Justin refused to interfere with the course of fate.  They had learned first hand, what was meant to be was meant to be.

"I know," Lisa knew that Laura was right, and she had hated to admit that.  Laura always seemed to have a way with words....words that always helped Lisa to understand.  In that respect, Laura appeared to be like the sister Lis had always wanted.  She was always there to lend advice and ease her heart, "You're right, Laura.  You're always right," she playfully growled, "I just wish that I could tell him how I feel.  Ever since we met them a few months ago, I've really started liking him."

"I know, sweetie," Laura reassured, "And I'm sure he likes you, too, but like I told you, rushing into these things only causes problems.  You've seen it happen," Laura sighed again, wishing there was more that she could say. She continued, "If you sit tight, eventually fate will carry this along.  You know that," Laura smiled, knowing that she had found the right words.

"Thanks Laur," Lisa smiled back, "I feel better," she giggled.  She thought briefly of Lance, and then started on her conversation of how Justin had said that he might go visit Laura.  Thoughts stirred through the girls' minds, yet somehow, Lance was still in heart.

"Laur, can you hang on? I gotta beep," Lis said as if part of a routine.

"Yup," Laura laughed.  She always knew when that darn phone was beeping.

"Hello?" Lisa said with question in her voice, waiting to see who was on the other line.

"Hey Lisa, it's Lance," he took a deep breath.

------------------------------------------------------
If I knew how to tell you what's on my mind
(make you understand)
Then I'd always be there right by your side

------------------------------------------------------
"Heeeey hun," Lis grinned from ear to ear, just glad to hear her friend's voice.  It was a comfort there, and even if he was "just her friend," she adored him just the same.

"I just wanted to call and say hi before the show tonight.  I missed ya, LiLi," he smiled softly.

"Awww," Lisa whined, still with a giggle, "I missed ya, too," she smiled, "You actually cheered me up, cuz I had a fight with my mom tonight," Lisa sighed, maybe exaggerating just a bit to keep Lance's attention.

"I'm sorry, doll.  Just keep smiling and things will be alright," he tried to soothe her in the little time he had.

"I will," she grinned.  She couldn't help but smile whenever he talked to her.  Something about the way he said things made her happy from the inside out.  It was just the way he had that she couldn't resist.  The way that she had grown to love.  Lance could cheer up Lisa on any given day.  He was her sunshine, pure and simple.

"I've got a show, sweetie, but I just wanted to say hi," he sighed, knowing that maybe he should admit how he felt, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it.

"Oooookay," Lis playfully protested, "But have a great show, " she smiled yet again.

"Thank you, LiLi," he had always called her that, and she adored it.  It made her smile like nothing else could.

"I'll talk to you soon, and tell Justin Laura loves him," Lis giggled, knowing that Laura would have wanted her to add that.

"I sure will, and tell Laura that Justin loves her, too," Lance chuckled, "Night night, sweetie," he said, smiling, hanging up the phone.

Lisa, still smiling, clicked over to her best friend, giggling.

"Oh Lord, what?" Laura asked sarcastically with a smile.

"Lance called just to say hi," Lisa grinned.

"See, girl, what did I tell you?" Laura asked, running her nails along her shirt as she often did when she teased her best friend.

"Yeah yeah," Lisa laughed, looking at a poster on her wall, "You were right again,'" she smiled.

You're my sunshine
