Chapter 3
PART 3
YOU WHAT!!!" Two teenyboppers screamed as their friend walked by them mumbling something about how she would not be with them at the concert because she had backstage passes. Lisa entered the bathroom and looked at her friends' reflections in the mirror. She did not really want to have to deal with her bopper friends that night so she decided that she would just stay backstage for the show. There were more important things she needed to think about, and having 30,000 girls screaming in her ears was not going to help her sort her thoughts. The hurt in her eyes surprised her friends. Lisa was known for her mood swings, and they could tell that something had upset her. But that did not stop them from seeing her decision as selfish and unfair.
"How could you do that? You just abandon us because some guy that you recently hated with an extreme passion wants you to spend time with him, so you just abandon us?" Laura stated in a cold voice. "You are such a hypocrite. You could care less about us as long as you get the best. I can't believe you. You are the most selfish person ever Lisa and right now I have no patience for your little 'feel sorry for me boo hoo I am so depressed about my boyfriend troubles'. Grow Up!" Lisa looked up with anger flashing in her penetrating eyes.
"Look! I was walking into the hotel, I saw Lance, talked to him, and he gave me a backstage pass for the concert tonight. No Big Deal. Why should you care what I do? And I am not going back there for him. There are plenty of other people that I could talk to back there. And besides, I wouldn't want to have to sit with you at the concert and bother you with my boyfriend troubles and selfishness. You are just jealous because you wish that you were the one going back there. So don't even try to cover it up with me being a hypocrite cause it is none of your business what I do. So leave it be. I've got more important things to do. We'll talk later." And with that Lisa slammed the bathroom door in her friends' faces. She sat down in the dry bathtub/Jacuzzi and pulled out a necklace from underneath her shirt. With shaking hands, she yanked hard and ripped the necklace off. Lisa bent over and cried uncontrollably as she stared at the locket in her hands. Sobs racked her body as she opened it and saw a picture of herself a month ago. She looked so different. Her smile was wide and genuine as she gazed up with her eyes sparkling. Her arms were wrapped around the figure that she had grown to love: her Romeo. The picture had been taken the last week of school and Lisa had been so happy. her life seemed perfect, and she could see that she had been a totally different person. She had been a happy person. Lisa sobbed and put her head in her hands as she thought of how her life had been turned upside down. (flashback)***
"Lisa...we need to talk. I have to tell you something. Please, can I come over?" Lisa frowned at the phone. What was going on? she thought. She had never heard him like this before. she was not worried; she was scared. Terrified.
"But Romeo, what is it?" she asked quietly using the nickname she had given Ryan. He was her Romeo. Romeo, who was supposed to love and cherish, had done something bad, and Lisa could hear the regret in his voice.
"I can't tell you now. Please don't call me that anymore. You won't want to after I get there. Believe me." Lisa gasped at the dial tone in her ear. As she laid the phone down with trembling hands, she glanced around the room at all the pictures of her and her Romeo, Ryan. They were so perfect together. What had gone wrong... (end flashback)***
"LISA.....OPEN THE DOOR! You better be taking a shower or getting ready because we all need to leave for the concert soon. And we need to talk. Hurry UP!!" Lisa's eyes flew open as she awoke from her flashback. She realized that she should get ready because the rabid N SYNCERS would kill her if she made them late. She locket at the locket and threw it against the wall. 'Forget it already. He has' she thought dismally as she stepped into the shower.
Lisa soon emerged from the bathroom in the same old jeans and shirt. She looked at her two friends sitting restlessly on the bed. They looked up at Lisa with identical looks of disgust and impatience. Laura glanced at her watch with annoyance. "Lisa-we are going to be late. I hope that you are not going like that to the concert." Laura glanced at Lisa. Lisa's eyes widened as she look at Laura's watch and became aware of the fact that they had three hours until the concert started. She walked over to her friends and put a hand on each of their foreheads. "You're delirious! You've got to be. I don't think that any of you have any concept of time or fashion. I've lost you! Completely!" She exclaimed. She could not believe how childish they were acting. She had three hours to get ready, and they were already rushing her out of the door in her robe, no less.
"Please! Just watch TV and shut up. I can't believe that you would think that I would go to a concert in these clothes? What is your-" Lisa looked up with annoyance as there was a knock at the door. She flung the door open expecting to see her mother asking her if she was ready. The lilac-eyed girl stood in amazement. There, right in front of her, was the boy wonder Lance Bass. He held a dozen lilac roses in his arms as he crouched on one knee and grinned at the beauty in front of him. He was pleased that he had gotten a positive reaction out of her, but his smile soon faded as the look in her eyes changed to hurt. Lance could see her try to hide it as she broke away from his gaze. 'Oh god...' Lisa thought. 'He brought me flowers. The only other guy who ever cared enough to bring me flowers was Ryan. I can't let myself fall for him. I just can't' Lisa's mind raced as she turned away from the grinning blonde boy in front of her.
"What is it Lisa? What's wrong?" Lance asked as he got up from his position on the floor.
"Nothing" she snapped in return turning back to face him. "What are you doing here?" Lisa asked with exasperation. "As you can see, I am not ready to go join all the ten year olds who dream of being your wife." The door began to close behind Lisa, but Lance quickly pushed it open and pulled Lisa out.
"Please talk to me," he pleaded as he grabbed her hands and held them to his chest, "I came to apologize for upsetting you this morning. You seemed so sad as you walked away. And it was something I said, so it was my fault. I'm sorry. But, please, tell me what's wrong. I didn't think that any girl hated flowers that much" Lance added with a bashful smile. He tilted Lisa's face up towards his and looked in her pain stricken eyes.
"Why would you care? I am nothing to you. Just leave. Please." She was not asking him to go; she was telling him in a bunt emotionless voice.
"No! I am going to stay here with you until you are ready. The rest of the guys want you to accompany us to sound check. So I'll just wait out here while you get dressed, and I know that you love me sooooo much, so I got you a front row seat for the concert. YAY! I know that you are too excited. I can see it in your face!" Lance couldn't help it. He knew that she would not be happy to have the seats, and he knew that she could care less about him or the concert, but he wanted to keep her closer to him. He wanted to show her that he could be giving; that he could be a nice guy. And besides he had to keep the sarcasm going. Lance knew that was what gave her energy. So with that in mind, he watched Lisa's face twist in anger and revolt as she watched him pull out the ticket from his pants.
"Oh god...you just had to do that. You had to put it down your pants. Save me the horrible display of cockiness and machoness and go get one of your teenies to do it. Actually, I am sure that you could find two happy campers right inside my room that would pull out that ticket in an instant. And one more thing what makes you think that I am overjoyed to be in the front row? you know that I cannot stand-"
"SCOOP!" A dread headed figure shouted as he jumped on the back of Lance's 's back. The blond boy lost his balance and the look on his face changed from self-satisfaction to surprise as he stumbled forward, falling face first onto Lisa. she screamed in surprise as she went flying backwards into the hotel room.
"What the hell!" Laura and Jane shouted as three bodies tumbled into the room. Chris jumped off quickly leaving Lisa and Lance tangled together on the floor. He screamed with laughter as Lance pinned Lisa to the floor and extracted a front row ticket from the depths of his pants. Noticing he had an audience, Lance proclaimed "Lisa! You left these here last night!"
"Lisa?! What were you doing?!" Chris exclaimed as he feigned shock and surprise.
