Part Two~~Montana Campsite
As Jonell was walking at a fast pace toward the group, her footing faltered.
She felt certain she was being watched. She could feel the heat of someone's
eyes branding her.
Pausing for a moment, Jonell slowly turned around. Growing pale, her eyes
widened and her knees grew weak, he searching gaze stopped on the man
who was staring back at her from the brownest eyes imaginable. She covered
her mouth with a hand, gasping. The more she stared back at him, the more
she was aware that this was not just any man.
This was the man of her midnight dreams.
He was of medium height. His eyes dark brown, large, and well set. His
nose was moderate in size, his chest splendidly developed. His shoulder
length curly hair hung free.
She blinked her eyes and swallowed hard. How could she have possibly dreamed
of this man whom she had never seen before?
Later that day...
Howard was his name; she had learned from another member of the group,
their guide.
"We will camp here for the night," Howard said "There is
water for drinking and trees to give us shade for setting up camp."
His statement was met with a sigh of relief from the group exhausted after
the long hike.
Everyone worked together gathering wood for a fire, and the evening meal.
Later everyone retreated to his or her own small tents.
In the privacy of her own tent, Jonell made entries in her journals, and
laid them aside, stretching out on her sleeping bag. She closed her eyes
and pretended that she was home in her room.
The sound of movement outside caused her eyes to open quickly. She scarcely
breathed, wondering who was stirring around outside, when only moments
ago it seemed that everyone was asleep for the night.
Too curious not to see who it was, Jonell threw open her tent, her breath
suddenly lodged in her throat and her heart skipped a beat as she watched
Howard leave the campsite.
Without further thought, she scrambled from her tent and began to follow
him.
