Chapter 15

Kay poked her head out again wondering where her coffee was. She heard Kevin yelling at Nick with Brian and Howie listening. Hoping they would somehow hear her, she called out, “Can someone get me some coffee?” When she heard no one moving, she moved back into the bunk and closed the curtains. After she had taken off her annoying headdress and nearly fallen asleep, someone pushed apart the curtains. Kay sits up holding the covers against her chest to cover her.

“Here’s your coffee,” AJ says.

She reaches out of the coffee, at the same time readjusting her hold on the cover. She could feel his eyes on her arm around her chest area. She takes a sip and when she finishes it, he takes the cup and sets it down.

He climbs into the bunk, wordlessly. Kay moved over thanking an angel that AJ was wearing a pair of boxers. They stared at the opposite end for a few moments before AJ said, “Morning.”

“Yeah, good morning.”

They lapsed into an uncomfortable silence. “Y-you know, when I saw you last night, I felt like I knew you.”

“Some here. It was like it happened before. Like the other time,” he finished quietly.

“I know what you mean. Have you been having dreams?”

“Don’t tell me you’ve been having them too.”

“First one was after that night.”

“You always die.”

“I know.”

“You think you’re going to die again?”

“Everyone dies at one point.”

“Yeah, but you always die when you’re with me.”

“And you always find me. It’s not that big of a deal.”

“But we’re kind of like Romeo and Juliet. We are fated to be together, but something always keeps us from being together for a long time.”

“You know what’s weird? You’re always 5 years older.”

“And we’re always around the same age. 21, 22 or 16, 17.”

“Do you think we travel through time or something?”

“Not us physically because our physical features are usually different in every single dream. Our souls travel.”

“What are we going to do now?”

“That all depends if we like each other or not.”

“I like you, do you like me?”

“Of course I do. Why else am I so possessive of you?”

“How should I know? Are we going still friends or not?”

“If it’s alright with you, I rather not be friends.”

“Uh…yeah, if that’s what you want,” she said disappointed, as she made a move to get out.

AJ moved onto his side and stopped her from moving. He pushed her back down and pinned her down with his body. He closed the distance between her head and his head. As he spoke, his lips lightly brushed against hers, “I think you misunderstood. I don’t to be your friend. I want to be more than a friend.”

From that point on, they couldn’t do much talking because they were what a great tool a mouth was in bed.
