The Capturing Musical Soundtracks tutorial from Storycenter.org is a concise two-page tutorial that is useful for those interested in understanding the concept of saving audio soundtracks for use in digital movie formats.

Browser used to access site:     Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0

Operating system used:             Windows XP Professional

This tutorial is appropriate for individuals who posses a basic knowledge of  file management concepts, and have access to a computer equipped with a CD-ROM drive. While the tutorial uses Apple’s MoviePlayer as the example for how to successfully capture audio soundtracks, it should be noted that the same concepts can be applied using other programs, such as Windows Media Player.

While I did not use Apple’s MoviePlayer to capture audio for my movie project, I found the tutorial useful for acquiring an overview of the process. Six steps for capturing soundtracks were included, along with three screenshots that highlight audio import and save options. Having read through the tutorial, I was more prepared to import audio files using Windows Media Player, and saving them as WMF files.

I would recommend reading the Capturing Musical Soundtracks tutorial to users of both Macintosh or Windows operating systems, if for no other reason than to get an overview of the process. I would venture to guess that there may be other tutorials specifically for Windows Media Player, and other Mac OS media applications that are more up-to-date.
