TODAYÕS MESSAGE

Based on methods from the Responsive Classroom

Northeast Foundation for Children

September  ___, 2008

Greetings everyone,

     We are going ÒFishingÓ today!

Has anyone ever gone fishing before?  If not, thatÕs okay because the point of this exercise is to learn about sharing, active listening and participation. So if you have not gone fishing before I want you to substitute fishing for another fun activity that you may have experienced with family and friends.

Think about your attitude at the beginning of your fishing (or other activity) day. What was it like? Who was with you and what was the best part of the experience?

Did you catch a fish? If you caught a fish, how did it make you feel?

If you did not catch a fish how did it make you feel?

Did someone else catch a fish? How did that make you feel?

Take a moment to think about a past experience. I will call on two people to share their fishing stories with the group. Those with different stories may be asked to share at a later time, so be sure to think about other similar experiences!

Respectfully,

Mr. B
