Dizzy is my first dog, we had her as a rescue when she was 6 months old at the end of November 1999. We think she is a german shepherd cross rough collie. She is a very clever dog and learns things very quickly. She used to do agility and flyball, heelwork to music and obedience. She has won out of pre-beginners and beginners in obedience. She carried on with her obedience until January 2004 when she won her second beginners, it was her first show back after her big op and I decided that she would be a lady of leisure after that.
She is very laid back and is a bit of a tom boy, she likes to play with the boys and is very boistorous. She is 100% with everyone and anyone, in the horsey world, they'd call her 'bombproof.' She is a registered Pets As therapy dog.
In July 2003 we took Diz to the vet as she was having trouble jumping, we were referred to a specialist and it was found she has degenerative disc disease. She had an operation at the end of july to remove the swollen disc which was at the base of her spine. She came home at the start of August after being at the specialist for a week, she was so pleased to see us she couldn't stop squeeling with excitiment. It was a long hard 6 weeks of cage rest and she was in a lot of pain which was horrible to see, but gradually she got better and mid-septmeber the specialist couldn't beleieve how well she had done and gave her the all clear, we had to gradually build up her exercise but we will always have to be careful about how much she does, it's such a shame, she can't understand why she's not allowed to run and play with other dogs all day long. She will never do agility or flyball again. Her achievements:
