   The Canadian Toad

Description:

These toads are a white and brown pattern with brown warts.  These toads can be found in southern Canada and northern U.S.  This toad is large with a cranial crest between eyes.

Habitat:

This frogs lives in marshlands with lots of water so the best possible tank being a 15 gallon with a moss substrate.   With a 4inch x 6inch water dish that is 2 inches deep.  They actually spend most of there time during the day in the water.  They hydrate there skin by absorbing the water with there skin.  These toads are territorial and should be housed alone if the tank is smaller than a 10 gallon.  The temperature should be 70  to about 80 degrees during the day and at night about 60-70 degrees.  An heating pad is not necessary.  Don't go lower then 60 degrees though because they will hibernation.

Diet: 

These frogs always seem to be hungry eating almost anything that comes in there path.  They will eat crickets, moths, mealworms, waxworms, beetles, small frogs and when full grown they can eat small pinkie mice.
