Green and Black Arrow Frog
General info:
These frogs are from the pacific coast of Panama. They grow to 1.5 - 2.5 inches big when full grown. These frogs should be handled as little as possible because of there toxic skin secretions for defense. Ask your pet store if they were wild caught or captive bred because captive bred are preferred.
Habitat:
The green and black arrow frog needs at least a ten gallon. The set-up should be tropical with logs and very well planted. There should be lots of hiding places. Moss is a good substrate along with forest bed (dampened dirt). The water dish should be as shallow as possible just so the frog can have a soak with out drowning. Mist the enclosure every other day. Do not mist the frog directly.
Heat/lighting:
These frogs need full spectrum lighting for 12-14 hours a day. The day temperatures should be from 76-84 degrees Fahrenheit and night temperatures from 74-79 degrees Fahrenheit. They also need a low wattage heat lamp which provides a basking area. They also need a cool area too.
Food:
They eat pin head crickets and fruit flies. Remember to dust insects with the vitamin and calcium powder. Don't over dust! Breeding crickets before you get this frog will supply 100's of tiny crickets for your frog.
