Let me show you around!
I am a firm believer that you can find out alot about
people from the places that surround them and the communities in which
they live. I would like to share with you the the places that are special
to me, the scenery and the beauty of the place I call home.
I was born and raised in Eureka, California. It is
located south of the Oregon border on the coast in Humboldt County. I realize
that most people have never heard of it, but it is the true "Northern California",
almost 250 miles to the north of the San Francisco Bay area. This is where
the true beauty of California can be found.
Humboldt County is famous for its giant redwood trees,
rugged coastline, and miles of rivers. The coastline is mostly undeveloped,
which means that you can walk for miles on the beaches and enjoy the quiet
without passing rows of beachfront homes and crowds of people. You can
spend a day on the river and never see another person. This is one of the
few areas in California that still has "room to move".
Eureka, the town where I live, has a population of
about 28,000, and sits on the edge of Humboldt Bay, the largest shipping
port between San Francisco and Brookings, Oregon. That's not saying much,
but we like to make ourselves sound important. We are surrounded by State
and National Parks that replace the massive freeways and bumper to bumper
traffic. We call it a traffic jam when the traffic lights are too slow
in changing. We pull together as a community when times get tough, and
we stand together as a family to keep our way of life.
The links on this page will give you a glimpse of
the place I call home. They will take you you to a few of the most beautiful
places on the North Coast, and introduce you to a lifestyle that is found
no where else in California. I will be adding new sites as they become
available, so I hope that you will come back and visit again. Please let
