This episode starts of at the Bronze where Xander rehearses with Willow his lines on asking Bufy out to the prom, meanwhile Buffy is doing her night job on someone's lawn. Then we see Giles reading a scary prophecy about that the time for the Master and the Slayer will meet soon. On reading this, a huge earthquake hits Sunnydale wrecking the buildings...funny only the library was seen damages..hmm go figure.
Buffy tells about her attack to Giles and is really scared that she attacked three vampires last night. She gets really scared that why there is more vampire's infesting Sunnydale - just then the bell rings and she has to go her awaited and unhappy destiny - in Biology. After class, Xander finally gets the nerve to ask her out, and she turns him down. Xander gets jelouse how she could turn him down over Angel - but she tells him to totally chill, she just sees him as a freind, that's all and she doesn't want to spoil anything between the two. Xander doesn't take this too nicely and decides to drown his sorrows in ...Country Music.
In the library Angel gives a surprise a visit to Giles to prove him wrong about the coming of the apocalypse, Buffy just then walks in and on seeing Angel - her mood brightens up..only to descover to being dampered that her destiny has finally come to her. She is to meet the master the next night and will die. She panicks and declares herself to be resigned and goes running off home ..without her cross. At home she finds her mom has bought her a dress of the homecoming - she tells she doesn't wanna go, cause she doesn't have a date. The next day after taking her mother's advice she decides to go, only minutes after she tries on her dress, she gets a distress call from Willow. Willow tells her what happened this morning when she and Cordelia went to school to set up the music and the havok they left in the Recreation Room (for those who are curious - they fed on a bunch of guys and left blood and dead guys everywhere *what you missed* Cordelia looking actually scared).
After hearing on what happened in school, Buffy decides to reclaim her job and goes to school. She decides she must meet up with her destiny. She goes back to the Library and tells Giles nothing is stopping her and when Giles tries to block her way, she knocks him out with one painful punch - grabs a crossbow and goes out waiting for the Annoited One who will lead her to the Master. She meets the Annoited One - who is a little boy and let's him lead her to the Master. When Xander finds out that Buffy is going to die and is to face the Master he runs to Angel's place and gets him to help save Buffy from being killed by the master.
The Master bites Buffy and drops her into a puddles. After this we see a big flash or light which gives him a portal to go to the above world, just then we see Angel and Xander running to the Master's Layer - with the Master gone, and our heroine looking pretty much dead. But don't fret, with Xander's brilliant idea and help on all his side cause Angel has no breath, he revived Buffy using CPR. Meanwhile Cordelia, Ms.Calendar, and Willow find themselves driving inside the school hallway trying to escape from the herd of vampires on school property. Cordelia speeds to the library, but unhopefully the undead follow up with them. They block all the entrances when the earth just breaks open and attacks them.

Buffy with her pal, Xander and man, Angel make their way back to the school and fight off the vampires terrorizing the school. Buffy goes to the roof and breaks the Master's mood of taking over the world and throws him down the library skylight and onto the readily sharp piece of wood - thus killing him instantly. He disintegrates, and the monster -'hellmouth' and vampires dissapear with him in a flash
