We see Buffy sleeping when she gets up and goes to get a glass of water from her night stand - only to find it empty. She gets out of her room where we find Drusilla behind her and she goes into a room which transports her into what seems like The Bronze. She sees Willow talking french with a monkey (kinda reminds you of Willow and Oz's disscussion of monkey's talk french in 'Dark Age') and then she sees her mother questioning her "Do you really think you are ready", when she suddenly drops her plate. This gets Buffy disturbed so she goes into the crowded dance floor where she sees Angel walking up to her. Her face lights up and she walks towards him when suddenly he gets staked surprisingly from the back by Drusilla and turns into Dust. "Happy Birthday Buffy" Drusilla announces. Buffy gets up from her dream screaming his name.

Still distraught from the dream, Buffy goes and checks up on Angel which leads them to kissing. From kissing it leads to a decision - Buffy want's to be intimate with Angel. Willow is in a loss of words and all can say is "Wow" the whole day.

Willow confronts her somewhat feelings for Oz and yet still having an attraction to Xander. Buffy gives her advise that to stop waiting for him to "smell the hottie" (hottie meaning Willow), and that she should take a first step with Oz and forget about Xander. With that Willow invites Oz to be her date for Buffy's surprise 17th Birthday Party.

Buffy goes to the library and tells Giles about her dream, worrying that Drusilla may be still alive - just then we see Drusilla beside her main man stuck and glued to a wheel chair with a bad rash or something wierd done to his face. Spike is holding a party for Drusilla, and a surprise gift for Drusilla that involves with many wooden boxes being put together.

Buffy gets up on her birthday and everything seems okay until when she has breakfast with her mother, where Joyce re-enacts a part of her dream. This scares Buffy and races to the library. In the time being, Ms. Calendar gets a visit from her uncle - who reminds her not to forget her gypsy roots and her duty to make sure Angel is a tormented for eternity. She sets out a plan to make sure that Angel and Buffy break up. That night, she takes Buffy to the Bronze on a mysterious errand, and there we see vampires carrying some more of the same boxes as we saw earlier at Spikes layer. She gets out of the car and attacks the vampires and ends up crashing one through the Bronze's window and turning the vampire to dust infront of Oz - now he is on the secret. She takes a box from the ground and opens it up to find a hand when suddenly it magically goes for Buffy's throat.

Angel saves Buffy and takes the hand away from her nect and puts it back inside the wooden box. He looks at the box in disbelief and explains that the arm belongs to a demon called 'The Judge' who hated humans and who's sole purpose was to cleanse the world of the plague of humanity. The demon is older than our fellow vampire and can never be killed so he was ripped apart into little pieces and buried in different places in the world to ensure that he would never be assemebled again. They now know that Drusilla and Spike are planning to re-assemble the judge and kill human one by one.

Ms.Calendar suggests that it is better if Angel takes the arm and reburies it in some remote part of the world. He reluctantly agrees despite Buffy's protest that they may never see eachother again.

Both Buffy and Angel go to the docks and bid eachother a tearful goodbye and which leads to more kissing when they are suddenly ambushed by vampires who reclaim the judge's arem. They distract Angel when they throw Buffy into the water, and Angel jumps after her. The vampires run back to the hideout, and Buffy heads back to the library with new clothes to give them bad news while Angel is at home getting into new clothes and joining them later.

Back at Spike's layer we notice that the Judge has been finally resebled. She asks the Judge to zap one of her men, which gets her all excited when he kills one of their smart vampire -"Do it AGAIN! DO IT AGAIN!".

Just then Buffy has a dream of her at Spikes layer and the boxes are all laid out on the table when suddenly she looks up and sees Angel being captured by Drusilla and killed with a knife from ear to ear. She freaks out and yells Angels name. After that they set out a plan, they know where Spikes' layer is and they are going to stop the Judge from being resebled, while the rest of the slayerets are to find where all the boxes are coming from and stop them from arriving to Spike.

On arrival, they found out they are too late, the Judge has already been re-assembled, and he sniffs them immediately which lends up them getting caught. Angel throws a TV over the Judges' head and both Angel and Buffy make a getaway from the sewers.

They run to Angel's Apartment in search for safe heaven. The whole nights episode gets the two lover carried away which ends up getting them to open up to eachother about their feelings for one another. They end up kissing which ends up to leading more.

Waking up from what seems like a night of love, Angel appears to be in great pain. He leaves the bed and out his apartment (man the guy changed fast into clothes) and collapses outside yelling "BUFFY!" and clutching to his heart...
