It's late night and everything seems quite. Buffy is walking with her two friends - Xander and Willow, home. On entering her house, she hears noise coming from the Kitchen and races to it and investigate. Upon her investigation, she finds her mother kissing a strange man whom introduces himself as Ted. This is when we view Buffy in a different angle, though she maybe a secure girl in her slaying but when it comes to her mom's single position, she longs for her mother to be back with her father - Definately NOT with Ted. Ted charms the socks off Willow with talk of computers and free computer upgrades, and Xander with his cooking ability in making pizza, but Buffy is not so easily charmed. She is even less happy when Ted shows up in school and is forced to accept an invitation to go miniature golfing on Saturday.Writers: David Greenwalt, Joss Whedon

She goes back to our re-cooperating Angel and explains her problems about not liking Ted, that she'd rather see him with her father than with Ted, but she promises Angel in the end that she will make an attempt to tolerate Ted, if not like him.
It's Saturday, and Buffy is playing miniature golf with her freinds, Mom and Ted. At one of the golf courses, Ted catches Buffy cheating and his charms just easily dissapear and out comes another Ted. He raises his voice, hitting the gold club repeatedly against his leg telling her he won't stand her for that 'malarkey' (what's with that word) in his house. Buffy replies him that 'It's a good thing I'm not in your house'. Not liking her reply, Ted answers, 'Do you want me to smack that smart ass mouth of yours?'. He stops right there and is all charms when Willow, Xander and Joyce show up but Buffy is not so easily fooled after seeing him slip.
She tells her mom what happened the next day but it seems Ted came before and presented our slayer's mother a different story - thus Joyce doesn't beleive Buffy but rather defends Ted.
Suspicious of Ted, Buffy decides to pay a visit to the company where Ted sells computers. When on his break she goes up and asks his co-worker what they think of Ted - especially when he is so far the out-standing salesman. His co-worker call him 'the Machine' and tells her his plans marrying a woman (Buffy's mom) within two months. All the plans have been set up, and they are all looking forward to it so they can catchup in their sales. She goes up to his table and notices how empty it is, only containing his computer and a picture of her mother he stole from the fridge - with Buffy folded out of the way.
Buffy brings the subject that is there any serious plans between the two like marriage - Ted replies that he would like to marry her mother, but in due time. When asked for her opinion on it she replies 'I feel like dying' which gets her sent to her room. She sneaks out of the house in attempt to find some vampires to take her anger out, but after waiting for sometime, she gives up and goes back to her room finding Ted reading her diary.
He calls her delusional for writing about being a Vampire Slayer, and threatens to show the diary to Joyce if she doesn't stop being nice and trying to cause trouble. Buffy disagrees and tries to take the diary away from him but he punches her. 'I was soo hoping you'd do that,' she answers and she starts kicking and punching Ted until he falls down the stairs and lays there - dead. Buffys mom runs to Ted and checks for life signs on his neck, then looking up with Buffy with shock, 'you killed him'.
The police come and rap up the body and take it to the corners office. They won't arrest Buffy because it looks like self-defence, but they will continue the investigation on what happened, regardless.
The next day, Buffy goes to school and feels like crap about what she did last night and the whispers and looks she receives from people don't help one bit. But Willow and Xander try and cheer her up and tell her they have a lead in their investigation on Ted. Giles decides to take slaying up for the time being until Buffy is up to it. On trying to help looking into Ted's history, Xander eats one of his cookies and gets all cheery about it. Willow decides to take a look at the cookies and analyze it just to calm her suspicions - but only to find that they are laced with a tranquilizer.
The three teens go to Ted's apartment to see what they can find on him and maybe get a clue why he was married four times. On coming there, they find the place looking a mess and not looking like an apartment but more of a workshop. Cordelia notices how the carpet seems so out of place with the rest of the surrounding and find that there is a door leading down to which seems to be the actual living quarters. When snooping around Xander opens the closet door and gather the two girls to go back up and out of the room stating the evidence for Buffy is all in the closet - all his wives are there, Dead.
Ms. Calendar shows up in the park in attmpt to reconcile with Giles, but a vampire shows up and attacks them. In the middle, she tries to help aim the arrow from the crossbow into the vamprie only to hit Giles. Giles pulls the arrow out and strikes it in the vampires heart, and later is rushed to the hospital with Ms.Calendar's help.
Meanwhile, Buffy finds it impossible for her to leave her room since her windown is nailed shut. When she turns around, she is stunned to see Ted appear right behind her. He attacks Buffy, who stabs him with a nail file and reaveal that its full of wires - Ted is a robot. Now fighting a stuttering Ted, he knocks her unconscious, then goes downstairs to see Buffy's mother. Joyce gets startled to see Ted alive, he explains that he was dead for only six minutes but revived. She tries to explain what Buffy did was an accident but he answers it's okay and tries to hurry to get her out of the house. His stuttering rises suspicions in Joyce that something is definetly wrong here, and when trying to escape from him, he gets violent and knocks her out eventually. He then hears Buffy and goes to take care of her once and for all. But Buffy has plans of her owns, she hides in the kitchen armed with a frying pan and gives Ted a big WHACK on the side of his head, exposing his true self constructed with metal and wires. She gives him one more whack on the head with her hefty frying pan and deactivates him for good.
With Ted gone out of Buffy's hair and house, it seems like Buffy and Joyce are back together. Joyce is greatful that Buffy never trusted Ted, especially after hearing what he did to his four wives. Willow, Xander and Cordelia let Buffy in on their scoup about Ted. It seems like the original Ted was a weak man dying of cancer and his wife left him, so he decided to make a stronger Ted - a robotic version of Ted who kept bringing back his wife over and over again. Ted has been dismantled and Willow is anxious to study the leftovers - for the sake of Science. Ms.Calendar and Giles are back together and everything looks for once cheery in Sunnydale - at least for now...
