A Musical Q&Aaron

Backstreet Boys bro Aaron Carter
(yep, that's Nick's baby brother) has proven that it's not size
- or age- that counts when it comes to being a pop star! After
hitting it big overseas, the 10 years old, 4 foot, 7 songster
is ready to "Shake it" in the United States with his self-titled
debut album that comes out this month. In an exclusive Q&A,
Aaron talks to BOP about music, touring and his big brother.

How did you get started in the music biz?

Aaron : I got started in music because when I was about 6 yours old, I had a band called Dead End. We did all kinds of music.

Wow, you were only 6! Did someone help you start the band?

Aaron : My parents got me in a rock school, and after-school program where you do music and they teach you different things.

What happened to Dead End?

Aaron : We broke up because we didn't get along, so then I decided to become a pop singer.

Cool, just like your big bro. You're opening for the Backstreet Boys on their summer tour next month, are you excited?

Aaron : Oh yeah, really excited!

Does Nick give you any inside performing advice?

Aaron : He'll tell me to just pretend that there's only two or three people out in the audience. It helps.

You come from a big family, do they support your career?

Aaron : Oh yeah, they support me a lot!

Who's the most special person in your life?

Aaron : Nick and my parents. They treat me very nice.

Are there any major bummers about geing a pop star?

Aaron : Traveling because I have to go through airports, and you're got to make it on time for flights and all this big stuff.

Does anyone go with you when you're touring?

Aaron : My mom Jane. She always goes with me.

You are in fourth grade. How do you do school when you're on road?

Aaron : Right now, I'm being home-schooled.

Do you miss your family and friends when you're traveling?

Aaron : Oh yeah. There are times when I can't see them for two months, but then I get to see them.

It must be nice to come back to your family's Florida home and relax. What do you do to gel out?

Aaron : All kinds of stuff, actually, I like to play Nintendo, whatch TV, ride a motorcycle and go fishing.

Wow, how do you find the time to sing?

Aaron : Well, when it's time to go, I go!
