Damn it...I don’t have much time....they’re after me. Each word out of my mouth brings me one step closer to Final Death. So here it is...here’s what you wanted to hear...
The year was 1901....the Titanic incident wouldn’t happen for another 11 years. The "in" things were alcohol and prohibition....or was that later? So many things have happened since then, history’s just one big yesterday. I was 18 then...runnin with da big boys...Big Papa John, Scarface...Capone even. I was THE man. All the jewelry heists, breakin inta police headquarters...I did it all....’n I did it all at once. I stole from Capone to give it ta Big John...from Big John ta Termel....yeah, I got it goin.Then one day, it happened. I was walkin down the city...this city.....and things started gettin dirty quick. It was 5 on one...Termel found out I was runnin him for his money...stealin his jewels ‘n givin them to the opposition, so he sent out his creme de la creme......the top dawgs. Boy was I impressed. 18 years old ‘n already I’m gettin offed by the best of the best.
"Jason D....ya little wannabe scamp....you think you coulda fooled Termel wid yer scams? ‘N we taught you were better den dat...but no matter...you’re a dead one now."
Yeah...they talked like that back then...rubber cement, fishes..the whole bit...how gawd awful.Funny...Gionni was like something out of "The Godfather"...you know that one guy who goes, "Don Corleone, it is a great honor for me to be here on the day of your daughter's wedding..."
...Anyway...Gionni ‘n Marlow were Termel’s goons...the ones with the position. Gionni was Termel’s right hand man...and for good reason. He offed parts of Capone’s boys....had things runnin from here ta Vegas ‘n back. If Termel didn’t keep Gionni under his thumb, he could be the boss......’n Termel knew that. He also knew that if I were alive, I could be bigger than them both.
So it happened. Gionni ‘n Marlow ‘n the other three got me in an alley, much like this one....I can still smell the gunpowder in the air. I gave them a run for their money too....I was a quick bastard. There were trashcans everywhere....papers flying....in the air, the dank smell of old men and booze and people with no better place to be than on the streets. The scream was like nothing you’d ever heard. The Tommy guns back then were a piece of work....a hundred bullets in 10 seconds. Huh...multiply that by 5 guys....that’s about 500 bullets comin at ya. Needless ta say I didn’t make it out alive. Shot a couple times extra for good measure too.
