Undying Love

He had made his mind. The pain which he had so cherished, but in the same way feared...the pain which he wanted so desperately to love and hate in the same instant...it was this in which he had made his final decision.

The light had made it's way up over the hills then... making it's way through Stanton and Vine, turning the corner at the delapidated 7-11, and up through the park. In the sun's wake, the early morning roosters croowed. The sun's light piercing the shadows of darkness, turning the oblivion once again into a thing of solidity and substance. As it climbed up the walls of the old house in which he sat, he thought again of her. And he heard her voice again...but it was different now. Where once it had that human sound to it, it was something more now....like that of a true angelic choir. It was her, beckoning him..calling him. Her voice, her image... the smoothness of her skin, the undeniable love that he felt...it had encompassed him now...engulfed him....and he knew. As the sun had broken through the thin panes of glass, it inched it's way slowly into the darkened room. He sat there...crying, pleading to Her...her voice, her image, her very being...the soul which reached out to him now, stronger than life, stronger than death. He reached out to it with all his unearthly powers.... striving.

And as the sun crawled up his legs and over his whole body, it burned him as nothing had ever hurt him before. It burned meat from flesh, and flesh from bone. If he had looked down, he would have found his torso burned almost to dust. But he did not. He looked inside himself and saw him as the man he once was, with this girl of his past.. Of his dreams...his fantasies..he saw her. And as the sun had risen into it's full morning glory, he smiled....and he knew. As he slipped into the blackness of death, he knew. He knew that finally he was with her once again... and this time death could take neither of them away.
