REVIEW:
When a vandal defiles his Uncle Ben's headstone in the middle of the night, Peter Parker is called to the cemetery to investigate. While there, he receives a phone call on his cell phone from a mysterious stranger who claims to know Parker's secret identity as Spider-Man. Peter, of course, claims that the caller is mistaken, until the man insinuates that he's kidnapped Peter's Aunt May. In a panic, Peter frantically swings through the city – sans costume – to May's apartment, only to find the place smashed and ransacked with Aunt May nowhere in sight.

Peter Parker's worst nightmare is unfolding before his eyes. Someone from his past has discovered that he is Spider-Man and has attacked him using the people he loves most. His Aunt May has been kidnapped and an exhausted, desperate Spider-Man has been told by his criminal contacts that super-villains Electro and The Vulture are responsible.

Led on a wild goose chase around New York City by the Owl, Spider-Man was hospitalized after fighting Electro and now finds himself in a hospital bed, his mask removed and his body battered and broken. He's never been more desperate which, of course, makes it the perfect moment for The Vulture to strike.

ACT 1: Lying in a hospital bed, Peter is having hallucinations and thinks he is seeing Aunt May standing in front of him. In reality, the Vulture is standing at the foot of the bed; waiting to strike at him. Partially coming back to reality, Peter manages to grab a water pitcher sitting on a nearby table and smashes it in the Vulture's face. At the same time, policemen storm the room with their guns out. Without hesitation, they shoot at the Vulture but the latter grabs Peter and uses him as a shield. Peter gets hit twice; one bullet goes through his shoulder, the other through his wrist. The cops, realizing that they have hit Spider-Man, stop shooting and the Vulture uses that opportunity to flee the scene through the window, Peter's limp body in his arms.

ACT 2: Dragging Peter above the city skyscrapers, the Vulture tells him that his share of the stolen money was going to pay for his grandson leukemia treatment. Angry at Peter/Spider-Man for having disrupted his plans for saving his grandson, the Vulture proceeds to remove the bandages covering Peter's face to get a good look at the man behind the mask of Spider-Man. When he sees Peter's face, he is shocked to see that he is a "nobody". Depressed to have been beaten by a nobody all those times, the Vulture drops Peter to his apparent death. Out of nowhere, the Black Cat appears and saves Peter from imminent death. Witnessing this, the Vulture plunges towards them and tackles the Black Cat. The Black Cat drops Peter but using whatever strength he has left, Peter manages to grab the ledge of a nearby building while the Black Cat and the Vulture continue to battle it out ferociously. The Black Cat quickly gets the upper hand when she starts dismantling the Vulture's outfit piece by piece, which causes the Vulture to lose control of his costume's navigation system and crash into a large billboard located atop a building. Through her conversation with the Vulture, it is revealed that the Black Cat was hired by the Owl to track down Electro and the Vulture. Realizing that he is beaten, the Vulture tries to negotiate with the Black Cat, telling her that he stole the money to help his grandson's health problems. Black Cat doesn't believe him and threatens to kill him if he ever approaches Spider-Man again.

ACT 3: The Meatpacking District, Manhattan. Covered with blood and heavily bruised, Electro is tied to a chair, the Owl standing in front of him. The Owl is extremely angry with Electro and the Vulture for having double-crossed him and stolen his money. Electro denies the accusation, telling the Owl that it was the Vulture's idea to steal the money, not his. He even goes as far as telling the Owl that he will help him track down the Vulture. The Owl doesn't buy into Electro's lies and tells him that the Black Cat already found the Vulture and she brought him back to him earlier that day. The Owl then proceeds to take the blanket off of somebody tied to a chair across from Electro; it is the Vulture. The latter is soaked in blood and huge gashes cover his face. He can barely speak. Frighten, Electro starts crying as Doctor Winkler, an associate of the Owl, approaches him with a huge scalpel in hand.

ACT 4: Mary Jane is aboard an airplane (Teaser One), while Peter is at home in bed, being watched by the Black Cat (Teaser Two). The shadow of the man behind Aunt May's kidnapping is showed once more (Teaser Three) but yet, his identity is not revealed. Meanwhile at the offices of the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson gets an unexpected visit from a New York Methodist Hospital worker who has pictures of an unmasked Spider-Man (Peter Parker) lying in his bed. Looking at the pictures, JJJ utters the words: "I think that's one very familiar face".
