REVIEW:
Spider-Man is dead. After a vicious battle with Morlun, the web-slinger was beaten, bloody, and missing an eye. It appeared as if the vampiric hunter, who had slain "spider-men" for centuries, had prevailed yet again. But when Morlun attempted to feed on the vanquished hero, Mary Jane interceded and soon found her own life in mortal danger. Sensing that his wife needed him, Spider-Man reanimated in a burst of fury and unleashed the full force of his animalistic rage upon Morlun. The predator suddenly became the prey, and Morlun perished – his life force consumed, his body dissipating into dust. But Spider-Man spent his last ounce of energy in the attack. While Mary Jane held tight, he slipped away into the dark void.

ACT 1: Mary Jane returns to Avengers Tower and finds Aunt May being comforted by Jarvis, her boyfriend. After confirming to Aunt May that Peter has passed on, they embrace each other and start the grieving process.

ACT 2: MJ then makes her way to Tony Stark's office to discuss specifics of how they are going to handle Peter's death. On her way there, she runs into Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, who offers his condolences and offers to talk to Aunt May and help her grieve the lost of her nephew whom she loved like a son. MJ is appreciative of his help and knows that Aunt May will appreciate it too.

ACT 3: A few minutes later, MJ sits down with Stark and the two discuss how to best handle Peter's untimely demise. Stark suggests some options that are too much for MJ to handle and she storms out of his office and heads to the bathroom to presumably vomit. Wolverine sees this and approaches MJ to talk to her. She does not want to hear what he has to say but he speaks anyways and tells her that since Peter is gone, maybe they could go out sometime. Totally insulted, MJ slaps him in the face and runs away crying. Jarvis, who was in the vicinity, comes up to Wolverine and asks why on Earth he would say such thing. Wolverine explains that he purposely pissed her off so as to keep her mind off of what is going on in her life. That way, she is most likely to stay up at night to try and figure out how to hurt him and that'll give her something to live for. He goes on explaining that it might be cruel but it's always worked for him.

ACT 4: MJ meets with Tony again and she tells him how she wants Peter's death to be handled. She wants him to make up a story in which she and Peter were walking down a street when five guys ambushed them and tried to grab her. Peter jumped at them and he told her to run, to get help, but she couldn't find anyone and by the time she got back, Peter was dead. Tony agrees to her suggestion and sets the wheels in motion. MJ then joins Steve Rogers in comforting Aunt May.

ACT 5: A short time later, MJ is standing outside on a balcony, looking at the City. Jessica Drew, a.k.a. Spider-Woman joins her and they talk. Jessica reveals that, when Peter was dying, she could feel it somehow. She adds that perhaps it was due to the fact that their powers have similar roots. Yet, she never felt that connected before.

ACT 6: Meanwhile, inside the Avengers Tower, Stark is heading towards the room (morgue) where Peter's body is being kept when he hears a loud crashing noise. He immediately activates the intruder alert. Within seconds, Luke Cage, Jessica and Mary Jane have joined Tony, who stands in front of the morgue's door. Seeing that MJ is with them, Stark tells her that she shouldn't be there. MJ wants to know what happened and demands to see Peter's body. When she looks inside the room, she is horrified. All that remains of Peter's body is its shell; his insides are all gone, as if he shed his skin. MJ cannot stomach what she sees and she passes out. Tony orders Jessica to take MJ back to living quarters while he and Steve Rogers, who has arrived on the scene, try to figure out what happened to Peter's body. As they search for clues in the morgue, Steve notices that there is not a lot of glass shards on the floor inside the morgue and comes to the conclusion that the window was not broken from the outside but was shattered by somebody trying to get out. Realizing that Steve might be on to something, Stark asks Luke to check every way in and out of the morgue to see if any of the doors have been rigged. Meanwhile, he'll check the security cameras to see if they picked up something. As Luke heads out, Tony comments to Steve that someone had to be very smart and very dangerous to have broken into Avengers Tower, considering that it is damn near foolproof. He prepares to say something else but he finds himself staring at the shell of Peter's body, wondering if perhaps his remains might tell him more about what happened.

ACT 7: A female teacher and four of her students are walking on the docks longing the Hudson River, collecting insects in pickle jars as part of a science class. As they walk, she explains that certain spiders, such as the recluse and the orbweaver spiders can actually shed their skin. She goes on explaining that while some shed their skin annually, leaving behind an empty husk, most shed their skin just once in a lifetime under certain circumstance. She doesn't get to finish her sentence, as one of her students interrupts her and whines that he hasn't been able to find anything. She suggests he goes to check under some nearby bridge to see if he can find something there. He does find some kind of indescribable bug that he traps in his pickle jar. As he goes to stand up, some kind of goop falls onto his hand from above. As he looks up, he lets out a scream at whatever he's looking at. He then runs back towards his classmates and the teacher, who asks him if he saw something. Not wanting to appear like a loser to his fellow classmates, he pretends there was nothing. As they walk away, the reader gets to see what the kid was afraid of: a large web cocoon is hanging from the bridge and there is a man inside the cocoon: Peter Parker
