HISTORY: After more than twenty years of marriage, Vanessa became sick of her husband, Wilson Fisk's (a.k.a. the Kingpin) life of crime, and persuaded him to give up his criminal ties and move to Japan. Once in Japan, Vanessa was soon kidnapped by a rival criminal faction and suffered a devastating mental breakdown. Moreover, a gang war erupted in the U.S. and her husband felt the need to return to his criminal ways and reassume the leadership of his organization. Whether Vanessa is still at the Kingpin's side is unknown.
