We worked together for years at the OCVB; we were the definition of a "team." We wrote, edited and published tourism informational material; supported 3 President & CEOs, 4 Directors of Sales & Marketing, as well as 6+ Sales Managers and a host of other colleges; directed Oaklanders and tourists to the best restaurants, sites, convention halls, hotels and nightlife in town, plus much, much more. My loving sister, Roma, was my right-hand and if there were ever anyone I needed to assist, guide and help me to produce professional work during my career at the OCVB, it was her.
Roma is one of the most spiritual beings that the Great Spirit, God, Allah, the ONE has placed in my life. We were, I believe, brought together as sisters by Him. She is the most reliable, dependable, loving, kind and generous person one could ever pray to meet, as well as a blessing to her beautiful family and many friends.
In addition to being my sister, Roma is also my mentor. Without her in my life, I would never have achieved all of the goals I set for myself, and I don't know where I'd be now without her in my life. She has guided me, as well as my youngest son, George, Junior (her nephew), through many hard times, showing us that there is Light at the end of the tunnel
It's time for you to meet my other sister, Roma. Roma is the beautiful lady in the white t-shirt with the pretty smile. We were united and became ~Sisters~ on December 3, 1988 in Oakland, California at the Oakland Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCVB) where she and I just about ran the place! ~lol~
My sister, thank you for being such an integral part of my life for so many years. When I felt empty, you gave me fulfillness; when I felt lonely and desolate, you gave me sisterhood and a sense of renewal; when I literally saw darkness and was on my death bed, you prayed and showed me the Light and the purpose of Life.
Roma, thank you for having faith in me, and thank you for demonstrating the meaning of sisterhood and family; most importantly, thank you for being a Beacon to me on a foggy night.
I love you, my sister.
