I seek refuge in Allah from the male and the female Jinn, from the torment of the grave and of the Hellfire and from the Satan himself! ameen. I begin with making this du'a because this is not an easy topic but must be addressed. We tend to forget that these events will happen, it can seem almost like fiction when you read it, but be assured that Allah(swt) will follow through with this prophecy.
The Dajjal or [Anti-Christ] is described in hadith:
Ibn 'Umar(raa) reported that Allah's Messenger(sAas) made a mention of
Dajjal in the presence of the people and said: "Allah is not one-eyed and
behold that Dajjal is blind of the right eye and his eye would be like a floating
grape." [Muslim]
Anas b. Malik(raa) reported that the Messenger of Allah(sAas) said: "Dajjal is blind
of one eye and there is written between his eyes the word 'Kafr'. Then he
spelled the word as K.F.R., which every Muslim would be able to read."
Hudhaifa(raa) reported that the Messenger of Allah(sAas) said: "Dajjal is blind of the
left eye, with thick hair and there would be a garden and fire with him and
his fire would be a garden and his garden would be fire." [Muslim]
The contradictions between these hadiths, is it the right eye or the left? The fact is that both the eyes of the Dajjal would be defective. He would be blind in the left eye and his right eye would be like a floating grape.[According to the musnad Ahmad]
The Dajjal will have all things with him but in a distorted form, what would be pleasing to him would be hideous to the Believers.
'Uqba b. Amr Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari(raa) reported: "I went to Hudhaifa b. Yaman and said to him; "Narrate what you have heard from the Prophet(sAas) pertaining to the Dajjal." "He said that the Dijal would appear and there would be along with him water and fire and what the people would see as water that would be fire and that would burn and what would appear as fire that would be water and any one of you who would see that should plunge in that which he sees as fire for it would be sweet, pure water." and 'Uqba said; "I also heard it, testifying Hudhaifa."[Muslim]
Abu Huraira(raa) reported the Prophet(sAas) as saying: "May I not inform you about the Dajjal what no Apostle of Allah narrated to his people? He would be blind and he would bring along with him an image of Paradise and Hell-fire and I warn you as Nuh(Asws) warned his people." [Muslim]
Narrated An-Nawwas ibn Sam'an: Allah's Apostle (sAas) mentioned of the Dajjal one day in the morning. He sometimes described him as insignificant and sometimes described (his turmoil) as very significant (and we felt) as if he were in the cluster of the date-palm trees. When we went to him (to the Holy Prophet) in the evening and he read (the signs of fear) on our faces, he said: What is the matter with you? We said: Allah's Apostle(sAas) you mentioned the Dajjal this morning (sometimes describing him) as insignificant and sometimes very important, until we began to think he was present in some (nearly) part of the cluster of the date-palm trees.
So he said: I harbor fear in regard to you in so many other things besides the Dajjal. If he comes forth while I am among you, I shall contend with him on your behalf, but if he comes forth while I am not among you, a man must contend on his own behalf and Allah will take care of every Muslim on my behalf (and safeguard him against his evil). He (the Dajjal) will be a young man with twisted, cropped hair, and a blind eye. I compare him with AbdulUzza ibn Qatan. He who among you will survive to see him should recite over him the opening verses of Surah al-Kahf (xviii). He will appear on the way between Syria and Iraq and will spread mischief right and left. O servant of Allah! Adhere (to the path of Truth). We said: Allah's Apostle (sAas), how long will he stay on Earth? He said: For forty days, one day like a year, one day like a month, one day like a week, and the rest of the days will be like your days. We said: Allah's Apostle (sAas) will one day's prayer suffice for the prayers of the day equal to one year? Thereupon he said: No, but you must make an estimate of the time (and then observe prayer).
We said: Allah's apostle (sAas) how quickly will he walk upon the earth? Thereupon he said: Like cloud driven by the wind. He will come to the people and invite them (to a wrong religion); they will affirm their faith in him and respond to him. He will then give a command to the sky: there will be rainfall upon the Earth and it will grow crops. Then in the evening, their pasturing animals will come to them with their humps very high, their udders full of milk and their flanks distended. He will then come to another people and invite them. But they will reject him so he will go away from them; they will have a drought and nothing will be left with them in the form of wealth.
He will then walk through the desert and say to it: Bring forth your treasures. The treasures will come out and gather before him like a swarm of bees. He will then call someone in the flush of youth, strike him with the sword, cut him into two pieces and (make these pieces lie at the distance which is generally between the archer and his target).
He will then call (that young man) and he will come forward laughing with his face gleaming (with happiness). It will at this very time that Allah will send 'Isa ibn Maryam(Asws). He will descend at the white minaret on the eastern side of Damascus, wearing two garments lightly dyed with saffron and placing his hands on the wings of two Angels. When he lowers his head, there will fall beads of perspiration from his head, and when he raises it up, beads like pearls will scatter from it. Every non-believer who smells the odor of his body will die and his breath will reach as far as he is able to see. He will then search for him (Dajjal) until he catches hold of him at the gate of Ludd and kills him.
Then a people whom Allah had protected will come to 'Isa ibn Maryam(Asws), and he will wipe their faces and inform them of their ranks in Paradise. It will be under such conditions that Allah will reveal to Jesus these words: I have brought forth from among My servants such people against whom none will be able to fight; you take these people safely to Tur, and then Allah will send Gog and Magog and they will swarm down from every slope. The first of them will pass the lake of Tiberias and drink out of it. And when the last of them passes, he will say: There was once water there.
'Isa(Asws) and his companions will then be besieged here (at Tur, and they will be so hard pressed) that the head of the ox will be dearer to them than one hundred dinars. Allah's Apostle (sAas), Jesus, and his companions will supplicate Allah, Who will send to them insects (which will attack their necks) and in the morning they would perish as one single person. Allah's Apostle (sAas), Jesus, and his companions, then come down to Earth and they will not find on Earth as much space as a single span that is not filled with putrefaction and stench. Allah's Apostle (sAas), Jesus, and his companions will then beseech Allah who will send birds whose necks would be like those of Bactrian camels and they will carry them away and throw them where Allah wills.
Then Allah will send rain which no house of mud-bricks or (tent of) camel-hair will keep out and it will wash the Earth until it resembles a mirror. Then the Earth will be told to bring forth its fruit and restore its blessing and, as a result thereof, there will grow (such a big) pomegranate that a group of people will be able to eat it and seek shelter under its skin, a dairy cow will give so much milk that a whole party will be able to drink it. The milking camel will give such (a large quantity of) milk that the whole tribe will be able to drink from it, and the milking-sheep will give so much milk that the whole family will be able to drink from it. At that time Allah will send a pleasant wind which will soothe (people) even under their armpits. He will take the life of every Muslim and only the wicked will survive who will commit adultery like asses and the Last Hour would come to them. [Muslim]
Allah(swt) says in Surah Al-Naml:82,
And when the Word (of torment) is fulfilled against them, We shall bring out
from the earth a beast to them, which will speak to them because mankind
believed not with certainty in Our Ayāt (Verses of the Qur'ān and Prophet
Muhammad (sAas).
The appearance of the Beast is one of the most important signs of the approach of the Day. He will be about 120 feet long and its limbs will resemble several different animals and birds. He will be very quick and will run and fly about all over the earth. He will visit every human being on earth and speak to them in their own language. He will stamp everyone's forehead with a label of Mu'min or Kafr. Then when he is finished he will disappear.
After all of these signs the Day will come when they will hear the sound of the trumpet, the horror of it will make people drop dead. This will be followed by earthquakes, overflowing of oceans, blowing of mountains and the explosion of the sky.
Allah(swt) says in Surah At-Takwir: 1-14,
1. When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown).
2. And when the stars shall fall;
3. And when the mountains shall made to pass away;
4. And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected;
5. And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together;
6. And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow;
7. And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies;
8. And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall
be questioned.
9. For what sin she was killed?
10. And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be
laid open;
11. And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place;
12. And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze.
13. And when Paradise shall be brought near,
14. (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil).
The events of the coming of the Dajjal and 'Isa(Asws) and the Day of Judgment are as stated by Rasool Allah(sAas), Huzafa narrates that: 'We were talking about Qayamah that the Holy Prophet(sAas) peeped and said': "Qayamah will not come till you see ten signs which are:
1. Smoke which remains spread throughout East and West for forty days
2. Dajjal
3. Da'aba(the Beast) a four legged best of the length of sixty yards. He will have the stick of Musa(Asws) and ring of Sulayman(Asws). In running he will have no equal. He will strike Mu'min with Musa's stick and will mark the word Mu'min on his face and similarly put the stamp of Kafr on the face of the Kafr.
4. Rising of the sun from the West
5. Descent of 'Isa ibn Maryam(Asws)
6. Gog and Magog
7-9. Sinking of the earth at three places: (a) East, (b) West, and (c) Arabian Gulf
10. That fire which will emanate from one side of Aden and drive the people to Hasr i.e.
the Resurrection.
These events are inevitable: The Ka'ba will be burned down. Then the Dajjal will stay on the earth for forty years, months or days (the Prophet(sAas) didn't specify). Then Allah(swt) will send 'Isa(Asws), who will look upon the Dajjal and kill him. Then the people will live for seven years with no rancor at all. Then Allah(swt) will send a cold wind from the side of Syria that would remove all the believers from the earth leaving only the wretched and wicked people. Then Satan will come to them in human form and ask them: "Don't you respond?" And they will ask him what orders he has for them, he will command them to worship idols, they will have an abundance of wealth. Finally the trumpet will be blown. Then Allah(swt) will send rain like dew, and bodies of people will grow from it, then the trumpet will be blown again and they will stand up and begin to look around, then it will be said, "O people, go to your Lord, and make them stand there." Then we will be questioned. Then it will be said, "Bring out a group (out of them) for the nine hundred ninety-nine out of one thousand for the Hell-Fire." This will be the Day that will make the children old because of its terror. Allah(swt) says in Surah At-Taha:102,
The Day when the Trumpet will be blown (the second blowing): that Day, We
shall gather the Mujrimūn (criminals, polytheists, sinners, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allāh, etc.) Zurqa: (blue or blind eyed with black faces).
This all seems grim, and for many it is, but be patient for the True Believers have nothing to fear. Allah(swt) says in Surah At-Taha:112
And he who works deeds of righteousness, while he is a believer (in Islāmic
Monotheism) then he will have no fear of injustice, nor of any curtailment (of his
reward).
